"Hell..." grunts Delvin from behind a large tree trunk. "I wonder these woods all day, they are empty, now my day is over, it's like every ruffian suddenly descides to throw a party."
He drops into the shadows of the woodland undergrowth, low growing, heavily leaved shrubbery camoflages his green clothing perfectly. Delvin is not one to take orders in his own wood, he sees the group covering behind a magic shield, and descides to press on through the undergrowth in the direction of the arrows. Hoping his mastery of stealth will keep him alive once more.

Sneaking through the underbrush, Delvin can see the archers, all 8 of them, hiding behind tree trunks as they ready another volley.

Balthus waits for the next volley, planning to cast a magic missile spell as soon as it has passed.

Delvin figured the large group was going to be a challenge on his own, if he could regroup with the adventurers, they may be able to get in close and over power the men. He slips a small carved wooden object from his pocket and gives alittle blow, emitting a 'cooing' sound, and soon, a small, agile grey Owl perches on the branch above him. The large golden eyes scan Delvin's situation, and after another call from Delvin, the Owl swoops in on the achers, it begins to bark and squark and claw at the arches. Whilst this is happening, Delvin slips back to the group, hoping lead them in a flank against the enemy.

Balthus reassures his companions. 'As yet they do not know of our magical protection. Wait for them to waste their next shots, then we attack.'

As the archers ready their next shots they are surprised by the sudden appearance of an uncharacteristically noisy owl. Releasing their bows, unaimed the next volly the hiding/protected characters see is all over the place. One of the archers slips in his fright and impales the man next to him's ear to the other side of his head with the shot. Killing the poor fool instantly. The rest are scrambling to get their bows back or swords out when Delvin returns to the group.

Delvin grins, and gives a sharp whislte through his 2 fingers, this time the Owl turns, gives a quick flutter, and is lost on the sea of woodland. "Right" says Delvin, climbing to his feet and drawing his sword "Lets see what this is all about." and he skips of through the bushes, charging the right flank of the group, and praying the strange adventures were going to follow.

Seeing his opportunity, Knightslayer breaks cover and rushes in behind the ranger sword ready.
One of the thrown axes strikes an archer square in the face dropping him, the other goes wide and thuds into a nearby tree as the bolts of energy from the mage find thier mark dropping two more. There are still 4 archers (now trying to get their short swords out) alive as those with melee weapons close in on them

OOC: Sorry this took so long to get back to. Have had some major interruptions in my life of late, including another computer crash (It's been fixed now thank the gods). So I hope the three of you will still be playing along.
Knightslayer charges the brigands in their center, swinging his longsword in a deadly arc.
Delvin, crashing suddenly through the underbrush near the right flank of the archers, surprises them and easily finds his mark, slaying his opponent with a quick stab sideways through his torso. However, this wonderful killing blow has caused Delvin's sword to become stuck in the archer who promptly falls to the ground taking the sword with him.
Waldo, attacking from the left, swings his twin battle axes at an archer, severing his bow in half with one swing, which continues through to the shoulder of the man, the other finding it's mark just under the ribcage sinking in deeply. When the twitching is over the man lies dead at Waldo's feet.
Knightslayer's sword comes up slightly shorter than intended and only grazes the archer he's facing. The man manages to almost finish drawing his short sword before Knightslayer swings again, disemboweling him.
There is now but a single archer left.

Waldo looks over to the archer and holds up his axes, gleaming with blood.
You are outnumbered and overpowered. Fighting us is suicide. Surrender and you will be treated well. offered Waldo.

An arrow flies, but it comes in the opposite direction of the rest. It is going towards the archer. A man covered in green and brown clothing finally comes into sight. He looks at the three warriors on ground and nods. He lets another arrow go with the accuracy of an expert archer.
