If y'all don't mind (thanks to his new rules regarding arcane spellcasters such as my character) I think I can really use that magic ring he put up there.

Well, actually, I don't know if Turjan is wearing armor, BUT I am. and my ac's already low enough. I'd really rather not have the double failure penalty on my spells.

Not much of great use to Palai, I'll probably go for the gems/money and maybe a potion of endurance or two, as my Con is not terribly high for a front line fighter.

Sorry for the confusion, the numbers in brackets are the caster level of the item, not the number of items.

Oops, you're right, I had assumed that was the number of items and not caster level. Thanks for the clarification.

The Golden Goose Brothel Dark Alley off of Main Mithril
Sorry guys. I already grabbed all the merchandise and went on a drunken binge with a group of halfling strumpets. Next time, just let me know you have an interest in items such as these. Be back to the island as soon as the money runs out, so in other words see you Weds.
Sorry, Kel

Seriously, though. In the past here is how we have divided items/treasure.
1. An item that can only be used by one of us and that will benefit the party goes to that person at no cost to the recipient.
2. If the item can be used by more than one person, then all interested parties bid on it and it goes to the highest bidder unless he does not have enough money to pay for its value. The winning bid cannot be below market value.
3. If there are enough duplicate items for each person to get one, then each of us gets one and can use it or dispose of it as they please.
4. All other items that do not fit into these catagories are held by the group for sale. Once appraised, any party member may buy the item at full value from the group. The rest are sold to third parties, and the money from all these sales is divided equally.
Of course, certain items may be used by a party member until sold (assuming no charges or value is lost), but that item still is considered party property and is subject to the above rules of treasure division.
***Footnote - presently we must remember that the troops and sometimes the crew will also receive a monetary cut of all treasure. I assume they must participate in the adventure to receive a "cut."

Actually, the entire crew gets a cut of all monetary treasure. Officers receive 4 shares and all other crew receive 1 share. That should include any and all treasure taken from the island. But not magic.
That means that all cash is split about 170 ways.
BTW, Kelly, what you were doing to divide the treasure before was somewhat mistaken. You were not adding the value of magic into the total before calculating shares. Then you were making people pay for the magic items. In other words, people had to both take less money and pay more for any magic items.
To give an example. 4 characters pick up 9000 gp and a 3000 gp item. Divided evenly, three characters should get 3000 gp each and the fourth gets the magic item. The way you were doing it was to take 9000gp divide it by four (2250 each) and then make one of the characters pay 1000 gp to each of the other three to buy the magic item. So, with that way, three characters get 3250 gp and the fourth gets a magic item and is 750 gold out of his own pocket. Magic items must be factored into the total value of treasure to make it fair.

Heh. Basically, the magical treasure you can split up between the party. Monetary treasure has to be split between the party and the crew. So, 4 shares each out of roughly 170 shares. Don't forget that you have about 100 k gp in pearls and another estimated 50 k in trade goods from the Tiger Dwarves. (Sorry, never did say how much you got for trading. Well, there it is).
Which means you've got roughly (and this is VERY rough) 3500 gp each.
