I was reading the Players Seeking tonight, as I do from time to time, when I realized that Loki3 and I have been playing for about the same amount of time. It got me to wondering just how many of you have been playing for how long. Take the poll and post your actual experience (if you want) in the thread. No spam please, I'm still trying to digest the last bit I had.

It's two years for me, started out with 1e, and just started learning 2e about six months ago. I still have lots of trouble with the rules, and dice rolling though......so I wouldn't even call myself a practiced gamer.

I put down 5, although it's actually about 8...
Considering that I'm only 18, that's not so bad at all...

I actually got started gaming even before I knew that D&D existed. I had a friend in HS who's older brother was a table top strategist and we, with that as a background began trying to devise an actual RPG based on the Napoleonic Wars.
Then Gygax had to go and upstage us and do it better than we even imagined possible. I played my first game of D&D (basÃc set) back in 1976 and it hooked me.

My older brother got me into it way back in the old Basic and Expert rules days. I guess I would have been about 8 when we started to play. Sheesh. This hobby has taken up more of my time than my education! Ack!
Mostly I've played DnD throughout that time. I dabbled in a few other games, but always came back to my first love.

I played for about five years, even though first three of these years I played mostly AD&D modules with already pregenerated characters. More then that, characters were given to us in random, i.e. nobody knew whom he or she will have to role-play. It was rather good for developing role-playing instincts, but rather bad for understand the system.

Well, i picked 5, but really I've been gaming in a number of systems for 8 years (but like Wyrmfire said, there's no 8 available in the poll). Started with 2nd Ed AD&D my freshman year of University, and have worked my way through several systems (Star Wars D6, Shadowrun, Earthdawn) and am now enjoying 3rd Ed D&D. Amazingly, in all 8 years, I have almost always played in a homebrewed realm (except in Star Wars).

Another gamer god, here. Started in 1982 with the DnD Basic Set. Have played on and off since then. 1E, 2E, or 3E. By no means to I classify myself as an expert - just seasoned.
