Kaber went down to the Comcast office on Friday afternoon, picked up the self-install kit, and by dinnertime......we were speeding along the internet, and able to use the phone to make calls at the same time. What a joy!!
Now all he needs to do is get his website set up.....but I've been hearing him mumble about routers, servers, cables......I dunno, I think the man is gonna be getting himself into some serious computer geek stuff.

Like I said Mistress, let me know and I'll network your house. I've got a router here waitin' for ya, and I can set it all up so you can host the website and whatnot. Let Kaber know. I could set aside a weekend or a weekday or two to come out and network your house.

Once you go cable, or ADSL whichever, you'll never go back. Went to a friend's place a while ago and used his dialup. OMG!! Click on a link, go make a coffee, come back and click again. Broadband is definitely the way to go. Good job LWW.

Thanks for the kudos Hussar......now if we could just have cable modem at work, both MH and I could be online at the same time (still only 1 dialup line there )
Hey Rune, you can discuss all that stuff with Kaber on Labor Day weekend, before or after the Ren Faire trip.....computers, I don't speak that language

Yeah, we recently switched to Broadband as well. The stuff he's talking about is simple to set up. I did it myself in about 15 minutes.... Congrats...

The cable modem is wonderful, I can't believe how much faster everything goes. We're going to set up a router, so our son can use one of my laptops upstairs in his room.
Then MH was telling us how we could network our computer with his home pc, so we can play IcewindDale and Diablo as a party.
Of course, all this computer talk made my eyes glaze over.

*Kaber makes Lady lay down and fetches her a cup of tea* Now now love. Here, this will make you feel better. *As kaber walks away he can barely stiffle a maniacal laugh.* All this computer talk gets me so excited.

What I want to know, is what took so long to get K to post in this thread? I mean Cable modem being so fast etc. Remember, I usually post from work, while Kaber is sleeping. When I'm home with him......well, I keep him very busy. EDIT: added color to post

Cable is much better, the phone line is not tied up, didn't have to get an extra phone line....well, unless you count my son's cellphone, which is glued to his ear.

Which is why my son won't be getting a cell phone anytime soon. He can't even keep up with school work, let alone a phone.........
