*Piper studies the box more closely and notices the grooves in the box. She starts to twist the sides of the box to see if they will move in any certain direction, and to see if she can align the symbols up in any certain sequence to see if the box will open*

The box doesn't seem to be built for the faces to rotate or the edges to move. However, as you continue to rotate and turn the box in your hand in order to figure something out, you stumble onto a small discovery. When you hold the box such that a corner faces towards you, the three symbols on the three closest faces seem to merge together, forming a letter. You cannot read it, but you know what its meaning it. You check all six corner letters and determine them to be the following: metal, fire, water, earth, wood, gate

*Piper continues to turn the box in different directions, coming up with different combinations of the letters to see if the box will open*

Piper works the box for a short while and finally determines the key. The grooves rotate and align to connect the various faces, such that they resemble the a weblike structure, with character or 'gate' being at the center. Piper believes that if she manipulate one of the other faces and follows it by manipulating the gate, something might happen.

((OOC: Why do I only check six corners when there are eight corners to a cube? Also, you said each symbol forms a letter that I cannot read, but I understand it's meaning. Did you mean they form a letter, or another symbol? Third, you said that the box does not move or rotate, but the grooves in them do. I'm confused.))

OOC: Sorry about the confusion; in my haste I gave you a fairly poor description. I've provided a new detailed description of the box here, so please disregard the previous ones. The cube feels solid in your hands, but looking closely at it, your eyes show you warped images that seem to defy what your hands feel. Though it feels like a cube in your hands and upon casual inspection, as you rotate it and try to determine its actual shape, you come across an odd discovery. The figure looks like a 5 sided triangular prism with an extra face sticking laterally out of the figure. The appearance of a single face, lacking a reverse side dazzeles your eyes momentariliy as you get used to it. The 6 faces continue to display the unreadable characters, but as your eyes focus on the characters, something clicks in your mind, as if a door opened all of a sudden, and the figures take on new meaning. You are tempted to drop the box and let your mind rest from the wholly illogical experience, but your curiosity gets the better of you and you explore the new avenues that your revelation opened up. Looking at the single face, you read the character "gate" upon it. The other five faces appear to display the characters for "metal", "fire", "water", "earth", and "wood", though you cannot determine their purpose as of yet. As you turn the box around in your hands looking for more clues, the edges keeping the faces together seem to twist in space, connecting the solid faces together with a malleability that makes it seem like a ball of clay, even though the figure never really changes shape in your hands. You blink a few times before taking in the new shape. Each solid face seems to be stretched and distorted, attaching itself to the single face and making appear almost like a map of sorts. The single face has rounded to an oval shape with each other face attached to its circumference as if depending on it. The faces seem so instable and malleable as to nearly be quivering. You feel a strong sensation that they are nearly asking to be touched and pressed. Though the faces remind you of the elemental planes, the absence of air and the presence of wood and metal make this seem to follow some sort of geometry that you are wholly unfamiliar with.

*Piper, still confused by the box, still continues to manipulate it by turning it and pressing on different sequences to try and make the box open up.*
