You continue to walk forward through the dark tunnel, keeping your senses alert and ready. The tunnel floor is sloping slightly downwards, and the air seems to thicken and humidify. You must have walked for at least an hour before the tunnel widens and a series of side passages begin to branch out from the main tunnel. Some of the side passages end in shallow caves, but most are long tunnels, similar to yours, which seem to wind deeper into the ground. Occasionally, you encounted a side-passage that's perfectly smooth, as if polished.
Heat signatures are harder to detect in the underground, and it becomes very difficult to tell the difference between the wall, the floor, and any random rock portrusions, such as stalagtites and stalagmites. Canderous stumbles constantly, being very unused to infravision, and even K'Zan, Spec, and Kaygor appear to have problems every once in a while. The only one who appears to have almost no difficulty seeing is Selenya.
The first part of the tunnel was mainly silent, sounding of nothing but the loud echoes of your footfalls. Passing into the large tunnel network, though, you enter the cacophany of the underground. The light chirp of bats can be heard, nearly masked by the roaring of an underground river, rampaging far beneath your feet. A hollow wind also adds its voice to the symphony, making it very difficult to communicate verbally save from speaking loudly into another's ears.

Spec stands looking down one of the passageways with the smooth walls. "These passageways...created by creatures perhaps...?" he says just audible enough for the group to hear.
He turns to K'zan,"Does the map give any information on where these passageways lead, or where we are supposed to go from here on?"
(ooc: how large are the passageways?)

The main tunnel is about 30 feet in diameter, and the side tunnels vary in size from 2 feet to a few well over 100 feet in width. Most of the tunnels are at least 10 feet tall, including the main tunnel, which seems to have a ceiling that stays at a constant height.

'I would be grateful for the enchantment you offered, Selenya.'
He then checks the map for directions.

<-- To K'zan only -->
Considering that the map is written using logical diagrams that explain the relationships between the tunnels, and a chaos geometry that you, as a githzerai, are capable of reading, it is nearly impossible for you to get lost. You have little difficulty in determining the way.

K'Zan looks up from the map and speaks to Spec;
'These small passageways lead into an open chamber of some sort. Beyond that are more tunnels that lead up to the portal to Ribcage. From here we go... this way.'
He points down the tunnel.

Spec moves to the entrace of the passageway K'Zan motioned to and waits for whoever's taking point to pass by, then will follow as stealthily as possible, while watching for any signs of possible danger.

Canderous, his hands beginning to tire a little from the tight grip he had on his sword, switches which hands as he heads to the tunnel K'zan directed them to.

Seeing her companions having difficulties with navigating in the darkness, Selenya regretted following the drow’s suggestion to get rid of the light. But there was no way to bring it back now.
As K’Zan stopped to read the map after asking her for magical protection, Selenya also stopped, using the short pause to cast her spells…
First of all, Selenya withdrawn a small piece of leather out of her belt pouch and after making a few gestures said, ”Magicplate!” while touching K’Zan’s torso with the piece of leather she still held…
[OOC:]
I am casting Mage Armor spell on K’Zan. In 3.0 edition, this spell will grant him +4 armor bonus to AC; but transferred into the 2nd edition, it will give him base AC = 6 as if he is wearing an armor, but needless to say, without the usual penalties from wearing a mundane armor. Casted at my level of power, this spell will last for 12 hours.
[/OOC:]
…After the spell was cast, Selenya put the piece of leather back into her belt pouch…
[OOC:]
The piece of leather is a focus rather then a material component, and thus, it does not expire after the spell is cast.
[/OOC:]
…And proceeded to a second series of complicated gestures and then once again touched K’Zan’s toso while saying, ”Golemskin!"
[OOC:]
I am casting Stoneskin spell on K’Zan. This spell will grant him Damage Reduction = 10/+5 and will last for 2 hours or until this spell will prevent 120 points of damage.
[/OOC:]
Once the group resumes moving, Selenya takes her usual place slightly behind K’Zan.

As Selenya begins casting her spells Spec looks for a small dark niche to slide into, watching for anything which her vocal spell components and such may attract, so that he may keep hidden from them.

Spec backs up against the wall as Selenya casts the spells on K'Zan. A brilliant orange light emanates from her hands as she casts the Mage Armor spell. As she paints the armor over K'Zan's body, his figure retains a dim, orange halo. In the dark depths of the tunnel, it lights up like a beacon.
In the distance, you can clearly make out the sound of stone being scratched and little legs skittering away.

Spec stands completely still, only his eyes moving as he carefully listens for movement. Hearing the sound of a critter scurrying he concentrates on the movement to see if it is coming near of receding. He continues to concentrate using all his senses - sight, smell, hearing - for anything that would stand out, or otherwise signal something out of the ordinary.

Turning because of all the noise that Selenya's spells are making, he makes sure everything is ok as far as he can tell. Still a little out of it due to this new vision, he squints for a second because it feels so wierd to have this strange sight.

Selenya looks rather susprised as she sees the visual effects her Mage Armor spell has created. All the descriptions Selenya heard or read described an invisible field of force that surrounds the target, and in her experience that indeed was how Mage Armor spell always manifested itself.
“Are we… In wild magic area of some kind?” Selenya wondered aloud, he voice barely above whisper.

A lens pops out over Kaygor's right eye and he glances around momentarily
Presence of wild magic zone is negative. Variation of spell effect likely due to relative planar location. he recited mechanically. Explanation: spells not researched specifically for use on certain planes may be affected by planar properties. Variances include aesthetic alteration, dimunition or enhancement of magical effect, or magical backlash depending on the spell cast and the current plane.
He looks around a bit more as another pair of lenses slip over his eyes.
I show no large lifeforms in the vicinity. There is a medium-high probability that we will be temporarily safe. However, it is proper to stay on guard for the moment.
