As you react to the sudden brightness, the sounds of movement in the distance seem to die away, save the ambient noise of the rushing water and the movement of a flock of bats somewhere down the tunnel.

“Thanks” Selenya said, smiling briefly to Kaygor.
Initially, she didn’t like the Modron because of his obvious association with the brutes who all but openly assaulted her earlier, but now she found something strangely reassuring in his precise mechanical manner of speaking.
”I still have a lot to learn about the planes.” Selenya thought. ”And perhaps… Just perhaps I am in the right company after all.”
”Sorry about this.” Selenya said aloud. ”I didn’t expect one of my spells cause visual effects like this. Anyway, perhaps we better continue moving?”

Spec glances Selenya's way,"I take it you have never cast those spells then..." He shows a bit of sarcasm, then turns toward the passageway and continues down it, careful as usual and scanning the ground and walls for anything that may be hidden or a harmful.

Since Kaygor has already explained everything, supposedly loudly enough for Spec to hear him, Selenya choose to simply ignore Spec's sarcastic comment. Selenya waits for others to continue moving, intending to take her usual position in the moving order.

Canderous sighs and continues on. "Lets stop all of this stopping right now. The more we walk, the sooner we get out of this place."

'Agreed.'
K'Zan follows Canderous down the passage, keeping a few paces behind.

You continue to walk down the tunnel, following K'Zan's directions. Kaygor keeps a sharp vigil down the tunnel with Canderous following nearby, and K'Zan close behind him, glowing like a beacon. Both Selenya and Spec walk about 15 feet behind them.
It is not long before the illumination draws some attention. You see small animals pass by you, their eyes glowing from the reflected light. Passing a side tunnel, you see a large, hulking figure walking away from you, too covered with shadows to determine exactly what it is. The underground river below you starts to die away, maintaining itself as a low trickle. The air seems to thicken and deaden as you begin to notice that this tunnel network is in fact, teeming with life. You also notice that your legs don't move as easily as they did back at the start of the tunnel. You arms feel heavy and your bodies weary. It is then that you suddenly notice that you have been traversing this tunnel network for nearly 8 hours with very little rest and no real, noticeable progress.

As the hours went by, Selenya started to visibly slow down, obviously tired after a long period of walking, especially with a backpack as heavy as hers…
Yet despite her tiredness, Selenya kept moving, trying her best to keep up with others and hoping against all the odds that they will get into the light before her Darkvision spell will stop functioning…

K'Zan thinks back, and recalls an old story he was told in the shifting lands - of Ukantsi, who weaves webs of shadows to trap the unwary - and a horrible realisation creeps into his mind.
'I wonder: could this be the work of the darkweaver? We may well be forced to use light.'

"Who... is... this... Darkweaver?" Selenya asked, as she struggled to keep up with K'Zan.

Spec catches up with K'zan and Selenya,"Nay. The Darkweaver exists in the more chaotic of the planes. And the more sinister ones at that...Pandemonium, Limbo and the Abyss." Spec turns to Selenya,"You don't want to know. I have heard stories about the Darkweaver. A creature of great intelligence. It exists both within the physical world and in the world of shadow. It lives deep in the darkness where light never shines. There it weaves its webs of shadow, waiting for the unsuspecting poor sod to wander into them. Once trapped, the Darkweaver can take over your mind and make you walk right into it's deathly embrace." Spec stares a moment longer to Selenya making sure his point gets through. He then rubs his eyes for a moment. "We're tiring. K'zan...how much further does the map say we have to go? If it's a ways, then I suggest we find a spot to rest that is beneficial to our defence, and prepare the spot for intruders, if it comes to that.

'I know where it lives, but our erstwhile guide seemed to believe that there could be one here. As for the map... we don't seem to be progressing as much as we should. In fact, we don't seem to have moved much at all. Something is wrong.'

Selenya frowned as Spec told her who this Darkweaver is.
"It seems that no matter where I go, the creatures from the Plane of Shadows are indeed everywhere…" Selenya thought gloomy. ”…No. This Darkweaver isn’t really here, of course, and it isn’t certain if we are going to encounter any creatures from the Plane of Shadows in here at all… But still… Could what Morph warned me about.... A whole multiverse being in danger of falling to the Shadow… It is so hard to imagine, but… Could it actually be the truth?..”
Deep in her thoughts, Selenya completely missed what Spec said about stopping to have a rest. But K’Zan’s saying that they ‘don't seem to have moved much at all’ was more then enough to get Selenya out of her thoughts.
”Don't seem to have moved much at all?..” Selenya repeated, getting less and less confident with each moment. ”But my spells… Not only the protective spell on you, but also the spell that allows me to see in the darkness… They will be gone in a few more hours. And after that… I will be completely helpless.”
Selenya choose not to mention that she felt rather helpless already; as tired as she was, Selenya wasn't sure that she could concentrate on casting even a simple spell.

You hear in the distance again, the movement of a flock of bats as they migrate from cave to cave. A few, pocket-like side tunnels open up away from the main artery, hardly 20 feet deep each. The floor and walls seem to have smoothed away, feeling polished, even though they are no more slippery than normal.
In one of the small caves you see a small pile of what appears to be wood. You can barely make out a long, metallic object thrust into the pile.

Spec spies the pile of wood. "How convenient. A bit, too convenient. Are these tunnels pre-fitted with camps?" Spec slowly moves towards the find, checking for possible tripwires and other dangerous objects.
