Fire does not forgive. Our Lord Cuthbert does not forgive. And I do not forgive. Forgiveness and mercy is for the weak. The flame does not forgive those who do not respect it. It burns those who fail to give it its proper due. Our Lord Cuthbert has commanded us to be as the flame. We must respect the law and obey lest the flames consume us in our carelessness.
"It is the way of water to coddle and lull. To seap into the cracks of society and then break them apart when you least expect it. To help the sinful is to be as water; allowing weakness into our very foundations. Look around this town and tell me that I am wrong. This town has even corrupted one of my own brethren, tempting him with warm carresses and sweet oblivion just as the sea does the drowning man."
"I can help this man or not, such as you wish. It makes little difference to me. If I do help him, he will be given the best care I have to offer, since, to do otherwise would be weak and dishonorable."
"Either way, it matters little to me."

The bartender grimaces...."Hurt business? Nah, if anything, it might bring in a few gawkers, but people don't have nothin' to fear if they keep their noses clean. The guy was likely involved with some shady customers, and got what was comin' to him. As for the bazaar...yeah, wait 'ntil this weekend. You'll be glad ya did. There's nothin' like it, assumin' ya got money to spend?"
Lorna comes up behind Johan, and rests an elbow on his shoulder, as she makes eye contact with the bartender; "can I get a bowl, a pitcher of warm water, a few rags, and some broth?"
The bartender doesn't skip a beat, going through his routine, and tossing drinks in front of patrons one after another, even before they've had a chance to order...he yells back into the kitchen,. There is the telltale sound of pots and pans banging around, and soon a massive dwarf comes out with the requested items. His shoulders are so broad you could set a keg upright on each, and it wouldn't fall off.

<Break for session 11>
You find yourselves in the outer ruins. Here the signs of any ancient civilization are few, and those that exist are overgrown with vines, and surrounded by grey birch, and various shrubs.
You are standing outside of a solid old dweilling, made of stone. A halfling woman is crying, gathering her two whelps into her arms, and thanking you. The massive black orc, or half-ogre, or whatever he was, lies at your feet.
Korbach kneels at Lorna's head, applying lifesaving techniques that will insure her return to health, after taking such a vicious blow.

*Spontaneously cast Cure Light Wounds with my last 1st level spell*
Korbach watches to see if Lorna recovers conciousness.

Melisendra glances over her shoulder from time to time at Lorna while asking the Halfling woman questions. "What happened here? Are you or your children hurt? Would you like to be escorted back to your home?" Melisendra squats down and smiles warmly at the children,” we won't hurt you or your mother, little ones."

Lorna wakes with a start, her hand reflexively going for her rapier....
"Wha?! Oooohh, my head....."
The halfling woman introduces herself as Jolidda and thanks you profusely;
"No, no dearie, thank you....we're not hurt. You came along just in time. I'm not sure what they wanted with us. Basil, thats my husband, hasn't come home yet. Normally he's not this late, but if he were here, those brutes would have thought twice before they tried to have their fun."
Her children cling to her apron and look up at you with puppy dog eyes.
"I'm sure glad you folks came along when you did. Most folks are at the celebration tonight, lucky for me you happened along. Can I offer you folks some dinner? Or maybe a few potato cakes for the road?"

"We must do something with this," indicates the recumbent form of the half orc.
Korbach reaches into his backpack, pulls out manacles and cuffs the unconcious orc. After cuffing him, he tends to his wounds so that he will not bleed to death. He then pulls out rope from his backpack, makes a noose and then begins looking for a stout tree limb.
"It is time for judgement," he intones over the unconcious humanoid.

Hazivah glances at Korbach "If Korbach feels like brutally executing prisoners, I don't really care. If his crazy god is telling him to do this I won't burn my hands on it."
Hazivah then goes to inspect the bodies to check if they're all really dead or have any trinkets on them.

Melisendra smiles at the children and nods to the woman. "I'm glad we came along, too. Do you know where your husband went? Perhaps we can keep an eye out for him and send him back home. Though a home cooked meal would be wonderful, I'm afraid we have other obligations this evening. Perhaps some of those potato cake though would be great." She hears the conflict behind her, turning she quickly excuses herself and steps up with Johan. "What in the name of creation are you doing, Korbach? Not only is this illegal, but there are children nearby. If you commit murder then we will have no choice but to turn you in. We were defending the innocent before, but he is unarmed and of no threat at this time. Let us turn him over to the authorities and be on our way."

Lorna stands up, picking at her blood matted hair...
"Korbach, I'm not sure if we should run around lynching people. From what i've seen, it looks like there are plenty of orcs living peacefully in town, maybe they wont be too happy about us outsiders lynching a local? Besides, I don't think I could stomach watching that sort of thing."
Lorna walks over to Korbach and puts a hand on his arm, "Lets put the noose away, okay?"

Hazivah who hasn't paid attention to what's happening behind his back, stands bent over one of the corpses "Hey guys, these orcs were wearing studded leather armor! And I found a nice belt on one of them, I guess Korbach could make the best use of it...eh?" Hazivah pauses and looks behind him, suprised to see the big fuss that's being made about Korbach's verdict on the orc.
((I also picked up a few minor items not interesting enough to mention, or is it good D&D etiquette to mention all picked up items?))

*Korbach shakes his head and grumbles, but puts away his rope.* "Well, at least I didn't mistreat him. Perhaps we should find a feather bed for him to recover in? Some serving girls to give him a good rubdown? Maybe something cool to drink. "I swear, how did your people ever survive?" *Looks at Hazivah* "That armor is no better than what I am wearing and has the added bonus of not being encrusted with orc blood. I think I will keep mine thanks." *Stalks a short distance away, peering into the darkness and, quite possibly, smoldering.* ((As long as the small stuff isn't diamonds, I think you can get away with it Haz. BTW, I would just like to say that playing Korbach is something like being 15 years old again. Always ready but never able if you get my drift. ))

Hazivah looks a bit confused at Korbach's reply. "Well, I'm sure you don't want one of those orc armors, but I actually meant this belt... " While holding up a belt with an orcish inscription on the buckle.
((if no one else wants the belt (just say so) I suppose I'll strap it on))
