A little humor - Pagan Style. Thought the list could use a little humor, this was sent to me by a friend via email. Misplaced Deity sought by Christians.....! So, I'm standing at a bus stop and they pull up. A car load of well meaning, bible thumping nut cases that are just frantic! The middle aged professionally dressed woman rushes forward...She takes my arm and with trembling voices she asks...."Have you found Jesus?" Her eyes plead with an urgency that is out of proportion to a bus stop Now normally I just politely decline the sermon, and free religious paperwork that such folk pawn off on unsuspecting by-standers. But, unfortunately for her, she is the forth car to accost me in the last 9 minutes. So by now I'm beginning to wonder what the heck is wrong with these people. I mean if its not Christians it is the Jehovah's Witnesses. Can a simple Druid get no peace? So calmly as I can muster, without being sarcastic I reply, "You people lost him, again??" The woman looks confused. This is not the response she was hoping for and she needs to regroup. She takes a deep breath intending to launch into her sales pitch for her God, and church, paying no heed to the concept that I might not be into being converted. I decide to not let her get going so I launch into a speech of my own... "What is wrong with you Christians? Every time I turn around you've lost Him!" I hit her with a glare of accusation. "I mean really..." I take a measured breath. "How do you expect to have anyone follow a deity that you can't even find!" The poor woman looks stunned. This isn't going so good. Panicked she looks desperately to the car... Surely one of the men can help.... Undaunted I press on... "Maybe the problem is with you people... I mean Muslims never seem to loose there deity. Come to think of it neither do Jews, or Pagans of any kind." I look at the man getting out of the car. He's all smiles. "I realize you people used to burn people like me at the stake... What was that about... deity even? I may be a Pagan-heathen, but I have never ever woke up panicked that I couldn't find my Goddess or God. They are always right where they should be... In the fire of my candle, in the air that I breath, in the earth that I stand on, in the water of my spring. I never feel abandoned by my deity(ies)." "Of course, you Christians aren't much fun..." I continue. By now they are all out of the car. Befuddled, aghast, and at a loss for words. "Of course," I offer trying to give them some defense for losing Jesus. "He could have left due to religious differences. If I remember correctly He was Jewish. So if you are really so eager to find him..." I smile gently to soften the blow. "Check the nearest synagogue. He's probably in there. Also you folks should try and remember that this is America... Where freedom of religion means ALL religions." Slowly they climb back into their car and drive away. I stand at the bus stop... No pamphlets, no bible, no dogma. I haven't found Jesus, but I haven't lost him either:) Someone sent this to you because they believe no one can have to much Deity. It is a blessing in disguise. You can keep it to your self or pass it on. Oh, and if you've found Jesus, please get his face on the evening news A.S.A.P so the Christians can stop looking for him.

I do not share my spell knowledge unless I know the person extremely well, and have complete trust in them. But I went searching and found this for you, Sharess www.geocities.com/malstrick/bindingspl.htmlBinding Spell Materials: 1 NEW Compact with Mirror (Black) 1 Picture of Person to be Bound 1 Black Candle 1 White Candle 1 27" piece of black cord 1 9" square of black silk (or cotton) Oil: Rose (for the properties of banishing, releasing and balance) Incense: Dragon's Blood (for the properties of binding, protection, and purification) Herb: Rue (for the properties of blessing, healing, and purification) On the night of the full moon, take the compact and open it upside down (NEVER, never look into the mirror), and dig out the tin powder container. Without look into the mirror, place it face up in a safe place where no one will look into it, yet it will reflect the light of the moon. The following morning (before sunrise, if possible), close the compact and wrap it in the black silk. The following night, as the moon is just beginning to wane, set up your altar as usual, cast your circle, etc... Begin by anointing the Black Candle with the Rose Oil... (hold candle with thumb and forefinger, rub oil with power hand from wick down; then bottom up; focusing on your intent to protect yourself from this individual). Next, anoint the White Candle in the opposite manner (focusing on your intent to bring harmony, balance and enlightenment to the current situation). Empower the Rue, focusing your intent on all of the above. (Don't forget to empower the Rose Oil with the intentions listed beside it, above. Oops. *s*) Light the Black Candle, saying "This candle burns for my intent, Sending back what sender sent. Freeing all from harm by s/he, An it harm none, so mote it be." Light the White Candle, saying "This candle burns for his/her intent, Learning from what back is sent. Freeing him/her from harm by s/he, An it harm none, so mote it be." Take the picture, and while anointing say, "Here the face of harm doth lie, May he/she look him/herself in the eye. May he/she see the harm and turn, Before the Wheel fires cease their burn. Oh, Deities of Justice see! An it harm none so mote it be." Lay the picture on your Pentacle, pick up the compact and open it upside down (remember, don't look in the mirror!). With the bottom flat on the altar, and the mirror facing away from you (reflecting the candle light), sprinkle the Rue in the bottom of the compact (concentrating on your intention), place the picture (face up) on top of the Rue and close the compact. Take up the cord and begin binding the compact saying, "I bind you here for harm you've done, To see yourself alone as one. I bind you here to learn your woes, To turn them as the Sabbats go. I bind you not for harm to come, But to see the truth of what you've done. I bind with love, I bind with care, That you, yourself, your actions bear." Pass the bound compact through the flame of each candle, the smoke of the incense, and sprinkle it with blessed water. Place it on the pentacle. Raise your power. When you release it, focus on the bound person... see them learning from their own mistakes, see yourself free of further harm from them, and focus on the love that the Lord and Lady have for all their children. When finished, simply say, "This spell is done, an it harm none, By Earth, Sky & Sea, So Mote It Be! Close circle. Wrap compact in black silk and put it someplace safe... -Silver Shadowcat

Do you suppose that I can find them in a phone book? This is the same group that I got the web address information for you? They have nothing listed on their website? I believe I saw an email address listed on the site, why not contact them that way, explain where you are, and ask how to get in touch with the group in your area.

This isa coming into one's self ritual for teens......those that are scared of going out into the world, or going off to college....even for those starting high school. They need to know that someone is watching out for them, and to have confidence in themselves as well.
As with all rituals, this should be performed by an experienced witch, not a novice.
Blessing of the Ancients
Call upon the Elements
Light a green candle at the North point of the pentacle, saying: Bless the ground walked upon and protect (use name or preposition, such as him/her/they).
Light a yellow candle at the East point, saying: Bless the wind and give rise to dreams.
Light a red candle at the South point, saying: Bless passion, yet remain clear minded.
Light a blue candle at the West point, saying: Bless with soothing calmness and peace.
Directly in the center of the pentacle, light frankincense incense for it is cleansing for the mind.
Call upon the Deities
Athena – Guard (use name or preposition) with sword and shield; grant wisdom.
Artemis – Guard (use name or preposition) with bow and staff; grant compassion.
Hecate – Guard (use name or preposition) while life’s journeys are made.
Hades – If one should fall and enter your realm, guard (use him or her) well until life fills (use him or her) once again.
Bestow the blessings
Blessed is/are (use name or preposition).
Blessed is/are (use name or preposition) by all the gods and goddesses.
Blessed is/are (use name or preposition) by the ancients; holders of all power, knowledge and wisdom.
Go to the person or persons, using bay leaf oil, draw a pentacle upon their forehead, saying: You are now blessed by the ancients; use your talents, use them wisely; believe in yourself, for you are loved and protected.
Leave the person/persons alone so they may think about the ritual; let the candles and incense burn out by itself.

Nocturnal magic ..... using the power of the night for spellwork, rituals, etc....this is in NO way related to "black magic". Being a dark or nocturnal witch means you are more energized by using the energy which runs throughout the night; whether you use the moon or not.

Hey, What about us Wizards? Wicca this, wicca that, goddess this and goddess that, but never any mention of us Wizards. Yes Wizards. No I'm not talking about role playing wizards or wanna be wizards for you see, Wizards are real. We are male witches; we are Loremasters, Thaumaturgists, Alchemists, Seekers of knowledge both arcane and mundane. Now you must understand that Wizardry does not require the worship of a god or goddess but the help of spirits is sometimes called for. In any case I invite you to read the following books:
Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard by Oberon Zell Ravenheart.
The Inner Temple of Witchcraft by Christopher Penczak.
Note that while these books do discuss Deities and speak of building Altars I do not necessarily believe that a deity is required. After all, Magick comes from all around us and is within each of us.

Wizard and witch are terms a male can use to associate himself with his magickal self. The term "warlock" is a Scottish term meaning "oath breaker", and was used upon folk who were practicioners of the craft, but turned their backs upon it, often aligning themselves with the accusers of witches.

25th September Penitence SpellColor of the day ~~~ Blue Incense of the day ~~~ Cedar Yom Kippur is the last day of the ten-day period that began on Rosh Hashanah. It is also called the Day of Atonement, and is the most solemn and sacred festival of the Jewish calendar. During this period, one is aced to contemplate one’s sins and seek reconciliation with God. We forgive our friends for any transgressions now. By forgiving others, we are forgiven by others and by God. It is through our relationship with each other that we establish or relationship with God. The kindness we show to each other is kindness to God. As in all religions, compassion is the virtue that leads away from egotism and toward spiritual development. The Yom Kippur service begins on the evening before, and after a nighttime break is resumed at sunrise and continues to sundown. During this entire period Jews are asked to fast and pray. To fast one must abstain from all food, drink, and sexual activity. This is an ancient shamanic practice that allows one to diminish the physical world and experience the world of the spirit. These things are avoided not because they are evil, but simply because they must be diminished for our consciousness to shift focus to the spirit within. ~~~Robert Place~~~ While the Llewellyn site has a great amount of information dealing with Pagan issues, not all their information is solely accurate, and should not be taken for gospel (pun intended) For example, the above spell intimates that Judaic traditions, based on historical instances, is based on shamanic practices. Though there is a similarity of fasting done on Yom Kippur as opposed to the American Indian tradition, those of the Jewish faith will feast and make merry the night before their day of fasting. Whereas, the American Indian will go through their daily life, and begin the fasting at the appointed hour without first feasting. Yom Kippur will last an entire day, whereas the shamanic fasting may last days, dependent on the result of the Indian male or female's desired achievement. Note however, that the terms of shaman and shamanism are not exclusive to American Indian traditions. ShamanismShamanism is the spiritual practices of ancient civilizations and cultures. Shamanism is the oldest healing tradition in the world. The Shaman in history served as the communicator between the physical and the spiritual worlds through various rituals and visualizations. This tradition is observed by modern mankind as a way of returning to its roots. healing.about.com/od/shamanism/A more indepth history of the shaman, a term not exclusive to American Indian culture, can be found HEREEDIT: added 2nd link of history EDIT: changed quote poster's name back to orginal poster.

A little bit of History for those of you. I wonder if even the Wizard knows this one! Wizard, also called "Wiccard" back in the Pre-500 C.E. was a term used by Celtic males, The name Wiccard ment "Wisest One" and mostly given to the Eldest members of that Community. I guess you could say that "Wiccard" was Celtic term used for "Elder" witches. The Z in there, came in after English writers attempted to translate the word, they thought it to be pronounced "We-sard" so spelled it "Wizard", however, Wiccard is actually pronounced, you guessed it. "Wick ard". By the way, Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard by Oberon Zell Ravenheart. Unless you follow Crowley, I would highly suggest keeping away from this book. It qoutes too much into his belief structure for me to even feel comfortable looking at it. And theres nothing but fluff in there anyway, You could get more realistic spells from Silver Ravenwolf my lad. I would suggest Konstantinos, D.J. Conway, Ray Bradbury, and Scott Conningham. They all speak on the Wicca thing as well son, but the basic concept of these are information, If you feel like their not focusing around male form enough, then just suck it up and read, then write your own books! We men could use a little more Guy oriented books on Witchcraft! LOL

I c/p this post from the spell a day thread to here. The spell a day thread is not for debating spells and such, but can be done here, in this thread. I also edited the post because trying to start a personal argument between two members is not allowed. I am not at all saying it was intentionally done, because I think the post was meant as a joke, however, there are some people who tend to take things a little bit more serious than they should.

You did express interest on the subject......so here's your chance to expand your knowledge"
The rest of Merlin's post...... But to this debate thing, she's right. Completely, Lewellyn, I hope I spelled that right, is not a always reliable source of information on spells. I mean, after all, they continue to publish books from Silver Ravenwolf. It's like going to the Crossing Over with John Edwards show, during a live filming, and believing the guy when he says the worlds going to end in 30 seconds.
It's just not realiable, I take everything with a grain of salt, huge one on most books. You got to weasle out what is not true, and to do that, you need to research, I didn't become no High Priest from sitting around believing everything I hear, if I did that, I'd send my Bratty son to the Al Quida just like John Kerry said to do! When the spell a day thread began, it's spells were taken from Llewellyn's spell a day webpage, hence the title. So when I brought this thread back up from being dormant for 6 months or so I continued, and also added a bit more info for spell working along the way.
I NEVER said that Llewellyn's was the know all or be all of spell working. I never said that this particular spell was shamanistic, I did say I thought it was interesting in the type of shamanistic practices used, such as the fasting for a vision to see yourself more clearly.
