Hussar: Ok, your ship is a Large Carrack. You have one of the largest ships in the water in the Blood sea Hussar: And, you are prolly as heavily armed as any warship. Endil: only a warship can only have a third of our catapults Hussar: If I was using those rules, then you would be correct. Hussar: However, what they consider a warship is about 400 years before carracks Hussar: This is pretty much the same ship Columbus used to sail to America Endil: so there's gunpowder then? Endil: i want! Hussar: No gunpowder. This is why you have catapults. Palai: Palai could be a musketeer Hussar: 12 catapults Hussar: btw. Hussar: Ok, Shall I make the game room? Endil: then how do we have such advanced naval vehicles without the advanced arms? kinda not right... Palai: sure Kelly: better to have some ballista than all heavy catapults Palai: we have magic, we can have advanced ships Kelly: take too long to load, aim and fire Hussar: Ships had nothing to do with gunpowder advancements. Endil: and the sheet you gave me has 6 large catapults Hussar: Ships advanced with better carpentry. Hussar: Read it again. It says 6 broadside Endil: no, but weapons usually have priority in technological advancements over vehicles Hussar: Which means six to a side. Endil: 6 Large Catapults Endil: there is a broadsides thing there, but nothing under it Hussar: one sec Hussar: could you send me the node back please Palai: maybe this society is enlightened enough to put advances in modes of transportation above advances in modes of killing things Hussar: Heh, not likely. Endil: not likly Hussar: It's just that magic is much simpler than gunpowder Palai: yah Endil: but usually harder to come by Hussar: Why bother with cannons when you have an extended range fireball wand on board. Palai: yah Endil: cause cannons don't need a mage Palai: and mages don't need a cause Palai: er, cannon Palai: some don't need a cause either, heh Endil: right, and what are more plentiful? mages or non-mages? Endil: thus what would be simpler? something that only mages can use, or something that everyone can use Kelly: both apparently are more plentiful than gunpowder Palai: what are more plentiful, mages or people who can make cannons? Hussar: That line for broadsides is written underneath because I didn7t have enough room to write it elsewhere Endil: ok Turjan: maybe canons are cheaper Hussar: What would be simpler, mages making sure that anyone developing gunpowder gets eaten by nasty things from beyond, or really quick alchemists? Endil: anyway, i might pick up some craft(alchemy) ranks, so i can make gunpowder then... Hussar: Remember, it's been about 150 years since the Titanswar. Hussar: There is no gunpowder in this world Hussar: You can try all you like Endil: it's manufacurable, all one would need are some simple materials, it's not naturally occuring Turjan: catapults it is Kelly: plus the knowledge Endil: just like alchemist's fire Hussar: The physics of this world are slightly different. Endil: well, duh Kelly: which is far harder to come by Hussar: Gunpowder does not function Endil: smokepowder then Hussar: the chemical bonds are different. Hussar: In other words frag off. Hussar: heh Endil: bah Hussar: creating game room. Hussar: Who are we missing? Evelyn and is FRP coming? Endil: is FRP even in the game? Kelly: azz was not on AIM - I sent him a message earlier telling him we are playing Hussar: k Palai: and Melegaunt, I thought he was going to come when Elias could join again Palai: which would be this session Hussar: Oh yeah. Mel Hussar: I knew we forgot someone Palai: brb Hussar: Ok, here we go. Palai: back Turjan: let me call frp Turjan: back ** Sorry, don't understand what a /gm is... Turjan: hello? Hussar: As you sail into your home harbour of Mithril, you pause to reflect upon the events of the last month or so.
Hussar: After a brief time atop the mountain plateau of the Snakemen, you helped the dwarven refugees though the steaming caverns, down to the narrow river below. A short time later, you had lashed together crude barges and set out. The journey, free from the oppressive fears of an unknown future, was easy and even enjoyable. The beautiful island birds and animals made brief appearances by the river and their cries filled the air. Five days later, you arrived at the mouth of the river and boarded the Tallywhacker.
Palai: hopefully one of those giant turtles weren't among the beautiful island animals who made appearances Palai: *wasn't Hussar: Music Hussar: From there you returned to the village of the tiger dwarves and returned their lost brothers and sisters. A massive spontaneous celebration erupted, lasting for four days. The days and nights passed in a drunken blur as waves of tiger dwarves brought out barrel after barrel of fruit wines and rum. By the end, most of you were deliriously happy, but extremely hung over. The dwarves resupplied your ship and you began the long journey back to Mithril
Palai: w00t, booze ** Endil sees no point in drinking, for any reason and goes off somewhere quiet during the festivities ** Kelly: drinks very little - Kelly: OOC - by the way - has Corean came to me to get the artifact? ** Turjan takes a long drink ** Hussar: nope, you haven't returned it to the temple yet Kelly: ok then keep casting obscure object on it Palai: Palai gets horrifically drunk, his mood only brightened by Endil's absence Hussar: It appears to you now that the gods were smiling on your return journey. Despite the lateness of the year, the weather remained fine and warm. A strong breeze carried you steadily back to Mithril and, while you spotted the storm heads on the horizon, you outran all of the Blood Rains. Kelly: Blood Rains = mother nature's time of the month - OOC Hussar: It is now two days out from Mithril. You have spotted a sail on the horizon. It is flying the colours of the Mithril Navy. It turns towards you, cutting the distance swiftly. The lookout reports that it is the Vigilant, a Mithril pirate hunter captained by an old acquaintance ? Captain Larus Raemer.

Palai: well at least one god better be smiling on us, we lost two PCs to get that artifact for him Hussar: Two? Palai: Falen and Grimnoor Endil: shads didn't die Palai: I thought he did Hussar: Shads is still with you. Hussar: You guys really should read the website. Palai: ok, I wasn't sure Endil: and i do, i just can't recently Hussar: Larus Raemer was the ship captain who aided you in your tracking of the drug smugglers sometime last year.
Palai: Palai flinches instinctively at the sight of the pirate hunting vessel, having grown used to being chased by them in his earlier days Hussar: The Vigilant comes about and begins station keeping some 300 yards to port. Looking over, you see she is signaling you with a semaphore. (Profession: Sailor Check DC:15 to understand the message)
Palai: Palai: Profession (sailor) [1d20+9] -> [2,9] = Kelly: look at the pretty flags Palai: damn Palai: help me out Endil Endil: i'm not a sailor, i'm a helmsman Kelly: is evelyn nautical ? Palai: anyone else have Profession (sailor)? Turjan: "They probably want usto prepare to be boarded." Hussar: Elias [1d20+7] -> [6,7] = (13) Endil: untrained? Palai: what about the marines? Hussar: Nope. Endil: okey Hussar: One of the crew says: Captain, a message. Hussar: TO MITHRIL SHIP TALLYWACKER STOP VIGILANT IS CURRENTLY EN ROUTE TO MITHRIL STOP FORM CONVOY STOP WELCOME HOME TALLYWACKER END
Palai: "I can't make out what they're saying," Palai starts, but stops when the crewman gives the message. "Good job," Palai tells him, tossing him a gold coin Palai: -1 gp Turjan: "They earned their share of treasure-good job crew." Hussar: (the sailor is latter gang raped for his gold coin) Kelly: cast cure light wounds on the sailor's rape hole Hussar: Do you follow the Vigilant? Palai: glad I don't have that gold coin anymore then Endil: ya Hussar: (dirty priest, is that what they call it now?) Kelly: catholic Turjan: ooc-Elias is still captaain? Palai: well the message would seem to suggest we should Hussar: Well, I believe so. Until you vote otherwise. Hussar: Captain is chosen by vote. Endil: which is why i said i'm following Kelly: yes lets form up with them Turjan: "well we have no choice but to join the convoy." Hussar: You fall into the Vigilant's wake and follow her home. Turjan: ooc-heh nice Endil: hey... it's baulder Endil: 's gate with a status behind it Endil: *statue Endil: that looks suspiciously like a preditor Hussar: That's the Mithril Golem. A golem made of solid mithril, some 100 feet tall. Hussar: It fought the titan Kadum and helped to chain the titan to the bottom of the Blood Sea. Endil: (even though in the ELH they are large size, but what the hey...) Palai: "Home sweet home," Palai grunts at the sight of the city Palai: it's a colossus Hussar: The Mithril Golem is a tad larger than what's in the ELH. Hussar: As you follow the Vigilant into Mithril harbour, you guide your ship to House Bloodhawkfs docks. People line the quay cheering your return. You crew erupts into cheers and several visibly weep at their return. Flowers fly out at you, thrown by cheering and laughing people. You have come home. Lines are thrown and secured and you bump gently against the dock. A perfect ending to your journey.
Turjan: ooc-Did we bring a tiger dwarf with us? Hussar: I don't think so. Hussar: Certainly none wanted to come. Palai: Palai climbs down one of the lines and heads off to the nearest brothel for some much needed relief Hussar: Everyone have the Mithril map now? Palai: yep Kelly: y Endil: ya Turjan: yes Hussar: You are met on the docks by Neuth Haila, Lord of House Bloodhawk, the sponsor of your journey. He smiles at you broadly and shakes your hands. He looks a little surprised at the makeup of your officers, but, he quickly recovers and gestures for you to enter the carriages he has brought. The noise of the cheering crowds is deafening. You see that Lord Haila has brought a small army of dockworkers to unload your cargo and a number of Mithril Knights from the Customfs house are also here to inspect. Lord Haila has also apparently hired a number of tough looking guards to keep order around your ship.
Hussar: Guys, my wife needs to use the phone Hussar: I might get knocked off. Kelly: climbs into carriage - shotgun Palai: Palai tries to act as ordinarily as possible around the lord and the guards, not wanting someone to recognise and arrest him Hussar: Looks like I'm still here. Turjan: "Yes well, all officers are wearing makeup these days..." Hussar: Given that you haven't been in Mithril in almost a year, and you guys look pretty different from when you left. A lot more tanned for one. Palai: lol ** Endil gets in a carrage, and tries to forget about the humans yelling ** Hussar: You don't have to worry about being recognized too much. Palai: well that's good Kelly: b/c of the makeup Turjan: lol Hussar: lol Hussar: The weeks pass quickly and the fame of your arrival dies down, although people still nod to you on the street or point as you pass. The weather has turned sour, as it always does. People are forced indoors as the rain turns from blue to red. The streets run crimson with the blood of the Titan Kadum. The arrival of ships slow to a trickle then stop completely as the waves pound against the walls of Mithril harbour. Winter, with the Blood Rains has returned to Mithril.
Kelly: before the weeks fly by - I report to the temple with my written reports Endil: is there blood snows here too? Palai: I really wouldn't want to shovel that if there is Hussar: The warmth of the Bloodsea means that it very rarely snows in Mithril. Endil: ok Hussar: Remember, the idea of the Bloodsea is pretty literal. The water is red with the blood of the Titan Kadum. Kelly: "I'm dreaming of a red Corean-mas" Hussar: lol Palai: Palai spends most of his time in seedy bars and brothels, also spending some time to buy some better equipment Hussar: Speaking of Corean-mas.

Hussar: Near the middle of the last month of the year, there is a knock upon your door. A footman waits outside bearing a message. It reads:
Palai: -2 platinum for my various drinking binges Hussar: Greetings members of the Fist of the Dragon. You are cordially invited to be my guests at the Winter Solstice Ball to be held at the Green Lady. RSVP with my manservant. Lord Haila.
Palai: hey, looks like I got those ranks of Perform (dance) just in time Endil: (they speak french here?) Turjan: "I accept your gracious invitation my good man." Hussar: (No, they accept you to reply on silver plates. ** Turjan passes the messenger a silver piece. ** Hussar: They expect you to reply on silver plates. Hussar: Heh Kelly: Grab the silver plate in Azz's head and begin to write the reply Turjan: lol Hussar: A few hours later, a coach arrives and another manservant asks you to accompany him to a tailor. gLord Haila,h he says, gis providing everything, sirs. Please, come with me.h
Palai: Palai shakes off another hangover and accepts the invitation Kelly: go with him Palai: 'Get on the field, let's hustle!" the coach yells ** Endil looks strangly at the man, but goes with him hesitantly ** ** Hussar imagine the song "Pretty Woman" being played as you are treated like royalty and dressed in fine clothes. ** ** Turjan has done himself in his finest clothing. A tunic of yellow silk and accented with a red sash. The sash has opals set in the side. Breaches of light brown. And a new red cloak trimmed with ermine fur. ** Palai: nice description whispering to Turjan, Thought you might like this. Palai: I suck at describing clothes and have no fashion sense, so just assume Palai is wearing something appropriate Endil: ditto Turjan: "My friends, we have been on the boat far too long-now it is time to wage a battle of amorous proportions! Certainly I will be the most popular at tonights ball." ** Turjan smiles at the others ** Kelly: Kelly's clothing is stylish, yet seasonable. Tailor: Well, I can see you in something with teeth. Grrr, baby, grrr. Kelly: wow Palai I think he is flirting with you Hussar: The Green Lady is a well appointed villa in the Temple City. Richly adorned carriages carry the wealthy and the powerful to this hilltop hall. Women in glittering gowns and men wearing the latest fashions parade into the hall. Feeling somewhat out of place, you enter.
Palai: unfortunately Palai is one of my few characters that doesn't lean that way Hussar: The hall is beautiful and tasteful. Music washes over you and little fiddly finger foods are being carted around by somewhat haughty servants. People turn to look as you enter and several lean close to whisper to each other. But, just as quickly they return to their own company. You are promptly approached by Lord Haila himself. Beside him is his rather dowdy wife. He smiles broadly. gCome, friends, there are many here who would like to speak with you. Enjoy the food and drink.h
Turjan: naughty servants Palai: not needing anyone to tell him to drink, Palai gets a glass of wine ** Turjan looks for a lovely woman in the ballroom ** Endil: yes, apropriately bored look for my pic Endil: *yoink* Hussar: Ok, guys, just a second, I have some special rules for this little soire Hussar: This is how this will work. There are a number of important dignitaries at this ball. You will all make a diplomacy check, when I ask you to do so, to determine who will go first. The highest roll will be the first to choose who to talk to. Move your mini so that it overlaps with the person you would like to speak with.
Kelly: double take on evelyn Palai: heh, nice pic for Palai Turjan: ooc-heh I want to be Yul Brenner Kelly: opps Kelly has his boxers on the outside - hehehehe Palai: though he's not bald Hussar: At any point in time, during a conversation with one of the dignitaries, anyone, including myself, can call gCuth. At that point, I will go to the next highest person on the list and they can start or continue his or her conversation. And so on. Cutfs may be called at any time for any reason. There is no questioning a cut. If you are cut, remember the last point of your conversation so that it can be picked back up when it is your turn.
Palai: yes, Evelyn looks rather delicate for a barbarian Hussar: For the duration of this ball, ALL comments made in the chat window are considered to be in character. Anything you say can and will be held against you. Heh. But seriously, all comments are in character. If you wish to make ooc comments, whisper them. Any ooc comments made will result in a 200 xp penalty towards the offender. Any actions you take should be done by emote (/me).
Hussar: Are there any questions?

Kelly: what is a gCuth? Hussar: Sorry, that should be "cut" ** Turjan straightens the sleeves of his shirt showing he is ready ** Kelly: Kelly looks around to see if he notices any members of the Temple of Corean he recognizes Hussar: Guys, we have lots of time, so you can mingle as you wish. Hussar: Just approach someone and I will give a description. Hussar: It is unlikely that you would recognize by face most of these people, and no one is wearing nametags. Palai: Palai suppresses a groan at the thought of talking to these people, who are far more dignified than the types he's used to hanging around with, but decides to approach the most martial looking of them. Turjan: "Good evening good lady, how fair you this evening?" Hussar: If you approach someone you think might be interesting. If they aren't, call cut and move on. Hussar: Ok, wait Hussar: Diplomacy checks everyone Endil: [1d20+1] -> [20,1] = (21) Endil: wow Palai: Palai: Charisma [1d20+1] -> [13,1] = (14) Kelly: [1d20 + 13] -> [5,13] = (18) Turjan: Diplomacy [1d20+2] -> [11,2] = (13) Hussar: So, Endil is first. ** Endil looks for a library and spends most of his time there, not liking people in general ** Hussar: Put your minis back. Turjan: ooc-we all are feeling very confident it seems Hussar: ok Hussar: cut Hussar: Next is Kelly Hussar: Kelly? Kelly: I will approach the High Priest Emili Derigesh (assuming he is of the Temple of Corean) Hussar: ok Hussar: The High Priest of Corean in Mithril is a vigorous 65 year old man. He has been High Priest for over 20 years and is known to be kind and just. He looks at you with keen interest as you approach.
High Priest Emili Derigesh: Ahh, the heroes of the hour. Returned from the lost island of these strange dwarves. A fascinating tale. One I would hear more of. Kelly: Using all the stately and religious graces, I bow and kiss his ring "Good evening my lord." High Priest Emili Derigesh: Blessings upon you child. ** High Priest Emili Derigesh inclines his head at your obeisance. ** Kelly: Yes my lord, I immediately submitted my written logs to the church heirarchy upon my return High Priest Emili Derigesh: Yes, I read them. Quite interesting they were. Kelly: we found the island of a long lost trade route, and it appears that can be redeveloped in the future High Priest Emili Derigesh: Excellent job sir. Kelly: thank you my lord High Priest Emili Derigesh: I am very curious to hear your own view about the island you explored. I have read the reports, but I want to hear it first hand. Kelly: many of the inhabitants were friendly, among which were the tiger dwarves ** High Priest Emili Derigesh nods intently. ** Kelly: the most interesting part of the story is the snake men's temple further north on the island Kelly: we recovered the sword shard of Corean in their main temple High Priest Emili Derigesh: Yes, I remember mention of this temple. It was on a plateau if I remember correctly. Kelly: a foul evil race If I may say so Kelly: yes High Priest Emili Derigesh: This plateau you found, how large is it? And how large was the settlement? Kelly: the battle was epic Kelly: the plateau extended for miles Kelly: the city the size of hundreds Kelly: we left the buildings intact Hussar: Sorry, CUT! Hussar: Palai, you're up Hussar: Who do you approach Palai? Hussar: Champion Barconius is an imposing man in his early forties. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, he towers over most everyone in the room. His voice is strong and his bearing is military. Stories abound of his victorious confrontation with the Penumbral Shadowlord DarfTan. He looks at you expectantly.
Hussar: Oops, was that Barconius or Alana? Palai: "Greetings sir, fine evening isn't it?" Palai says by way of introduction, not sure who he's speaking to and trying not to show it. Champion Barconius: Well met citizen Champion Barconius: I have heard great things about you sir. You have made quite an impression upon the folk of Mithril. I even hear that Leod Calagh is considering making a play about your exploits. Palai: realising he hasn't given his name, he adds "My name is Palai sir," thinking momentarily of giving a pseudonym but deciding these people probably knew his name anyhow Champion Barconius: Ah, but of course. You and the other officers of the (ahem) Tallywacker are known to me. Palai: Palai fakes a modest blush. "I hadn't realised we'd become so renowned," he said Palai: Bluff [1d20+1] -> [5,1] = if needed Champion Barconius: It isn't every day that someone returns from so hidden a place. You have done a great service to Mithril. I hear that the merchant houses of Asuras and Bloodhawk are champing at the bit to return to your island. Champion Barconius: That and my counterpart His Reverence Emili is interested in sending a mission to possibly begin a colony there. Palai: "I wouldn't imagine there's much trade to be found there, just the tiger dwarves, but a colony could be possible." Champion Barconius: Heh, well, I am no merchant, but I imagine the small fortune in pearls you returned and these wonderful fruit are of much interest. Champion Barconius: I realize that this is something I should take up with your captain, but I too have an interest in your ship. Perhaps you could guage your captain's reaction to my proposal? Champion Barconius: Cut Palai: "I'm afraid I don't know Captain Elias very well, I was just a marine when the expedition began. You could take it up with him I suppose," Palai says, pointing to Elias and glad to terminate a conversation with someone he doesn't know. Hussar: Cut Hussar: Turjan, you're up. Hussar: Nabilia Silverheart is the List Mistress of the Guild of Shadow and as such is the second most powerful wizard in Mithril. The Guild of Shadow controls all wizardly pursuits in the city. Mithril Law requires that all wizards and sorcerers register with the Guild of the Shadow so that the city authorities know them. This policy isnft enforced heavily in Harbour City, but its generally best to comply in Temple City.
Hussar: Silverheartfs almost supernatural beauty reflects her elvish heritage - milk white skin, long silver hear and deep violet eyes. She smiles demurely as you approach.

Nabilia Silverheart: Itfs a beautiful ball is it not? I must admit that my duties prevent me from attending events such as this too often, but, it is nice to let ones hair down as it were. Turjan: "Good evening mylady, allow me to extend my compliments on your gown, most lovely." Nabilia Silverheart: Why thank you sir. Nabilia Silverheart: The Beautiful Bard sings Nabilia Silverheart: Your return to our city has certainly caused quite a stir. Turjan: "My name is Turjan of the Red Swammis. May I ask yours?" ** Nabilia Silverheart smiles and curtsys ** ** Turjan laughs softly at the comment. ** Nabilia Silverheart: I am Nabilia Silverheart, List Mistress of the Guild of Shadows. Kelly: [1d6] -> [3] = Turjan: A pleasure. Please forgive my friend who is quite forgetful and rolls dice at inoppurtune times. ** Nabilia Silverheart laughs. ** Nabilia Silverheart: How are you enjoying your return to civilization Sir Turjan. Turjan: Very much--its wonderful to be able to wear clothes and escape the heat of the island. Turjan: Our return has caused quite a stir? Why so? Nabilia Silverheart: I imagine that the cold of Mithril's winters must chill you to the bone after the warmth of the island. Nabilia Silverheart: Why, the city is all astir with the news of a new island with a source of fresh water and arable land. Nabilia Silverheart: Many are interested in homesteading. Turjan: Yes Mithril is cold-I am currently researching ways to keep warm. Turjan: Homesteading on that island?! That would be quite foolish. Nabilia Silverheart: Ah, but there are always those for whom the grass is greener is there not? Nabilia Silverheart: It is ironic that you mention research after the events of the past summer. Turjan: The island is beautiful but would not be profitable Nabilia Silverheart: Do you know of Darvin Lave? Turjan: No, I am rather new to these parts. Pray tell more. Is there some interesting gossip? Nabilia Silverheart: No, I suppose you would not. His perfidy was uncovered while you were upon your island. A foul man indeed. He was listed at the guild as a minor mage but he hid his true calling. He is a follower of Kadum, a Beastmaker. He was kidnapping people from the Dockside and performing foul experiments upon them. His membership in the guild gained him access to our libraries as well. When he was discovered, he used his magic to change his shape into an eagle and flew away down the coast. I hear that Mistress Blackburn, High Mage of Mithril, is looking for someone to pursue him. Turjan: Surely the mages of Mithril can handle summon up a creature to pursue him, can they not? Nabilia Silverheart: Truly it would be difficult. He has fled into the sea and the blood of Kadum makes scrying nearly impossible. Hussar: CUT! ** Turjan grabs to glasses of Champagne(or some tasty liquor) as a serving boy passes by. He hands one to Nabilia. ** Hussar: Endil, you are up. Do you wish to stop being a wall flaower. Endil: not really, i wouldn't have overheard anything here right? whispering to Endil, I'll allow you to hear anything you wish. Hussar: CUT! Hussar: Kelly, you are up. Kelly: Yes my lord the city is left standing Kelly: I had thought it might make a decent location to establish a branch of our temple if we could get settlers interested in the area Kelly: two main problems High Priest Emili Derigesh: Truly facinating. These snakemen are obviously followers of Mormo. But, I think with the death of their priestess, the rest can probably be handled.

High Priest Emili Derigesh: What problems are those? Kelly: are the lack of an easy access to the sea Kelly: and the ant people of the jungle and lion men who remain Kelly: however, the idea of a new temple to Corean is exciting to say the least High Priest Emili Derigesh: Yes, I read that in your report. You were unable to penetrate the jungles of these "ant men" were you? Kelly: using the assets of an evil temple to promote the interests of good is intriguing Kelly: well my lord, we went around them to more easily recover the artifact High Priest Emili Derigesh: The temple would obviously need to be cleansed, but yes, I think you have the gist. High Priest Emili Derigesh: I apologize for all the questions sir. I am very interested in the island for more than simply curiosity’s sake. I am thinking of commissioning a mission to the island to establish a colony. The plateau sounds eminently defensible in a hostile territory and a tactically sound place for an initial settlement. Plenty of fresh water, arable land and easy to defend. There are many who come to Mithril who would jump at the chance to start anew somewhere else. Now, I only need captains to take the people there. Kelly: then once recovered felt it best to return it to the temple Kelly: Yes when I was there, the same ideas struck me as well if I may be so bold my lord High Priest Emili Derigesh: Would your company be interested in such a venture? Kelly: I believe that some of the native inhabitants could be converted possibly, however settlers would likely form the bulk of any church of Corean Kelly: I could speak to them, however it seemed to me that many were interested in exploring the seas Kelly: to advance the interests of MIthril Kelly: and thus I would follow along to advance the word of Corean Kelly: but it is a possibility Kelly: at the very least, I would be happy to educate those who would make the journey Kelly: as one of the few humans who has been there, that might help alot High Priest Emili Derigesh: Well, if you are interested in remaining at sea, perhaps speaking with Champion Barconius may be of interest. He mentioned something about a letter of Marque for your crew. High Priest Emili Derigesh: Two Women Sing Kelly: I am interested in serving Corean where ever that takes me your eminance Hussar: And I think this is a good place to say "CUT" Hussar: Palai, you are up. Rufus (enter): 11:31 Hussar: Palai? Palai: Noticing Endil standing off to the side, Palai considers sending the fellow he'd just been talking to to talk to him, just to irritate the antisocial elf, but decides to be nice and not act on the idea. Instead, feeling a bit more confident, he approaches the woman nearby (Captain Alana). "Good evening my lady, would you care for a dance? My name is Palai." Palai flashes a smile at her. whispering to flyingricepaddy, just a sec Hussar: A Little Chamber Music Hussar: Captain Alana of the City Watch looks very out of place here. As Captain, she commands what passes for a peace force in Mithril. Largely ignored by both citizens and criminals alike, the Watch has long been overshadowed by other, more famous organizations like the Mithril Knights or the Veshian Vigils. She looks up from her drink, startled at being approached.
Captain Alana: Certainly citizen. It would be a... pleasure. ** Turjan smiles and listens to the pretty music ** ** Captain Alana turns out to be a fairly competent dancer. ** Palai: Palai: Perform (dance) [1d20+3] -> [16,3] = (19) Captain Alana: But, nothing in comparason to Palai. Kelly: Kelly notices the fancy dance of Palai out of the corner of his eys Captain Alana: My word sir. You are a good dancer. Palai: "You're not so bad yourself, my lady," Palai says, deciding not to mention that he'd been getting a lot of practice in the bars he hung out in...though the dancing there was usually far less stately Captain Alana: So, how are you enjoying nobbing with the nobs, friend? Palai: Palai tries to cover his laughter and doesn't fully succeed. "A woman after my own heart. I think I'll feign illness if I'm asked to another such function," he says Captain Alana: Tried that. On more than a few occasions. Never works. Captain Alana: Look at these people. Just look at them. Oh sure, the Champion does what he can for the people, but, most of this lot would rather ignore Harbourtown than do something about it. Hussar: (You realize that Captain Alana has maybe had one too many cocktails tonight) Palai: "I can always drink a few flagons of strong wine, then I'll be well and truly ill. I suppose they'd throw me out once I threw up on someone." Captain Alana: Well, at least they can't call you up in front of the Champion to explain your actions. Heh. The life of a free company. Captain Alana: Take our young Asuras over there. I wouldn’t give you tuppence for the bunch of them. Bloody moneygrubbers. Only in it to make a quick bit o’ coin then back out again. What about the people who live and work here eh? Captain Alana: Talking about those that couldn’t give a damn about the regular people, you should see the mess I’ve been handed. Some nob got himself offed or missing or something. No one’s seen him in over a year. eCourse, the silly git would be a wizard. He’s got his house protected with all sorts of charms. Who knows what’s going on inside? Now the city tells me that it’s my problem and I gotta deal with it. How do they expect me to deal with it? Captain Alana: No one worries about us regular folk. Palai: "I was raised in Harbourtown, things are rather rough there," Palai says in understanding Captain Alana: You too? I cut my teeth in Shacktown. Rose up all the way to Temple City. Not that this lot would let me forget where I come from. Captain Alana: But, I think I've maybe said a bit too much. Always getting me into trouble, my mouth is. Openning it at all the wrong times. Palai: "No, I shouldn't imagine they would. If I told them my mother was a strumpet they'd probably treat me rather differently," Palai says. At her mention of opening her mouth too much, Palai decides he could stand to do less of that himself. "And I know all about that." Palai bows to the Captain. "It's been a pleasure milady."

Hussar: "CUT" Hussar: Next up Turjan. Hussar: The Crowd Quiets to hear another tune. Turjan: "A toast to the lovely evening, and wonderful company" ** Nabilia Silverheart smiles and raises her glass. ** ** Turjan waits for Nabilia to lead the conversation. He smiles and takes a small drink "Excellent." ** ** Nabilia Silverheart looks at Turjan expectantly. ** ** Nabilia Silverheart and drinks her drink. ** Turjan: "The people seem quite haughty here, unlike yourself." ** Nabilia Silverheart smiles. ** Nabilia Silverheart: Well, I think it is because I deal with all sorts every day. Turjan: "Are there any you count amongst your friends?" Nabilia Silverheart: Well, all are friends here I suppose. Nabilia Silverheart: Of those I know anyway. Turjan: Yes of course being a mage, I m sure there are much eviler manner of beings that need to be dealt with Nabilia Silverheart: Well, actually I meant as List Mistress, I deal with commoners every day. Turjan: I see. You say this "Beastmaker" has fled to the north? Nabilia Silverheart: Well, we don't really know where he went. Nabilia Silverheart: He fled out over the water and hasn't been seen since. I doubt it will be the last we hear of him though. Turjan: And he was one of your members? Turjan: Did you have a disagreement? Nabilia Silverheart: All mages in Mithril are members of our guild. Nabilia Silverheart: Well, when guildmembers flay citizens alive, we tend to have a dim view. Nabilia Silverheart: I see that High Priestess Kallista is looking bored. It is never a good sign when the High Priestess of Enkili looks bored. Turjan: Quite dastardly. Perhaps we can help you shall we say-retrieve-this individual Nabilia Silverheart: brb Turjan: Perhaps she should be entertained. Turjan: I thank you, perhaps we shall talk again later. ** Turjan smiles and bows and takes his leave ** Turjan: slice Hussar: Next up is Endil. Hussar: You wanna join the festivities? The food is actually quite good. There are a number of Elven dishes here. Hussar: Guess not. Hussar: Next up is Kelly Kelly: thank you my lord, I shall mention that letter of marque to Captain ELIAS of the Tallywhacker Kelly: I am sure he is the proper person in our party to discuss such things Kelly: You must be sure to let me know how I can help with the island development ** Sorry, don't understand what a /bows is... Kelly: It has been on my mind alot ** High Priest Emili Derigesh bows and turns to the other guests clamoring for his attention. ** Kelly: My lord, if there is nothing else Kelly: I should speak with the High Priestess Kelly: Kelly walks to elias High Priest Emili Derigesh: Certainly. Kelly: tells him that Champion Barconius has a proposal to discuss with him Kelly: concerning a letter of marque Kelly: then heads to talk to the High Preistess ** Elias says, "Wait, Kelly, why don't we speak with Champion Barconius together." ** Kelly: ok Elias Elias: "That way, you can give your input." Kelly: the two walk over to the Champion Kelly: Good evening Sir, the High Priest mentioned to me that perhaps we should speak to you about a letter of Marque Kelly: My name is Kelly, priest of Corean Kelly: and this is the captain of our ship Kelly: Elias Kelly: may we speak to you? Champion Barconius: Greetings sirs. Ah yes. I believe I spoke with another of your officers earlier. Champion Barconius: Certainly, certainly. Champion Barconius: Would you be interested in cementing closer ties with Mithril sir? I have broached the topic with the other council members, and they have agreed that you should be given a Letter Of Marque for the City of Mithril Kelly: Elias asks "What would that entail in so far as responsibilities and rights?" Kelly: Kelly smiles Champion Barconius: A bearer of a Letter of Marque is a representative of Mithril in the oceans. You would be charged with keeping the peace upon the waves and reporting dangers to the city. Of course, you would be entitled to protection within our port and you would be considered to be part of the city. As such, you would be entitled to patrol Mithril waters to keep them free of enemy ships. Such as pirates or ships flying flags inimical to us. Kelly: Elias says, "And what of the captured pirate ships and goods?" Champion Barconius: We would give you 25 copper on the gold for all salvage. Champion Barconius: Which is standard for ... Champion Barconius: No, no no, 25 copper on the gold for goods sir. Kelly: "Oh my misunderstanding sir, please continue" Champion Barconius: If you were to say, take a pirate ship that had silk in its holds, then we would give you fair salvage value for it. Kelly: "Yes I see" Kelly: "and our other rights and responsibilities?" Champion Barconius: Of course, you would be given berth at our harbour. Kelly: "I see" Champion Barconius: Well, that could possibly be discussed further at a later time perhaps. Kelly: "Yes of course, I would have to discuss the matter with my crew and colleagues" Champion Barconius: If you are interested, have your officers and the captain come to the Shining Palace and speak with me and the council. Kelly: "Perhaps we could meet with you later in the week?" Kelly: "Thank you liege" Champion Barconius: Certainly sir. With the Blood Rains, sailing is quite impossible, so there is no imediete hurry. Kelly: "If you will excuse me, I believe that elven girl with us would like to dance" Kelly: "Agreed, terrible time of the year for us mariners" Hussar: CUT! Kelly: "It was a pleasure meeting you" Hussar: Palai is up. Champion Barconius: Certainly sir. Champion Barconius: Another Man Steps Forward Palai: Palai goes to get some more wine. On the way he passes Endil and comments "You know, doing nothing is far more fun when you're drinking." He pauses. "Actually, everything is more fun when you're drinking."
