** Evelyn pokes at them with a stick ** Evelyn: do they jump at her? Endil: yes, they are bracers of jumping... Hussar: no ** Evelyn sniffs them... then snatches them up and runs off a bit ** Turjan: "Great were back to wear we started" Evelyn: *shouting* What are these? ** Evelyn nips at them with her teeth ** Turjan: *where ** Evelyn spits at the foul taste ** Hussar: They taste pretty sweaty. Evelyn: Their yucky! Hussar: Remember, Endil is actually the only one who can directly speak with her Turjan: "They may taste like half-orc-you shouldnt bite them" Endil: "Thay arn't food." Evelyn: then what do you do with em? Hussar: Although Kelly is translating for everyone. Kelly: Kelly sighs slightly, rolling his eyes at the impracticality of all of this, and, only able to understand the elf and not speak to her, he dutifully explains her words to the others, excepting Endil. Endil: (anyone else wearing bracers?) Kelly: (gloves count?) Endil: nope Turjan: ooc-no sorry Kelly: (Nope...) Palai: nope, have gloves Evelyn: ooc someone prolly has a braclet Palai: does anyone have any food to give her? Turjan: "Endil, tell her to wear them on her arms and just pantamime the motion" Endil: i use my ring for food... Endil: and i translate turjan's sayings Endil: and... ya Turjan: "We dont know exactly what she eats, but I do have some food I can give her" ** Evelyn taps them against a rock ** Turjan: ooc-alright antother 3 rd level spell! Endil: and i did, translating for tujan Endil: turjan Endil: toejam? jk ** Evelyn has a look of realization on her face ** ** Evelyn slowly slips them on her wrists one after the other ** ** Turjan looks up at a small speck in the sky-its a raven the raven swoops down. Tied to its leg is a parchment with his next spell-what could it be ** Evelyn: ooooo... Theyre pretty whispering to Turjan, nice trick I like it. Evelyn: I wanna show the stumpy men! Kelly: Kelly nods briefly, smiling a little frustratedly at the elf. ** Evelyn hops up and down in glee ** Turjan: "What did she say?" Kelly: "Stumpy men? Endil, ask her who she's talking about." Endil: (Just so you know, kelly is rather mild mannered) Endil: "Sorrey? What stumpy men? to the south?" Evelyn: Little stumpy men, with faces painted all funny, the masters keep them on the farm over there Palai: well Grimnoor just died, and now Kelly is the last remaining original party member, he might not be in the most stable frame of mind right now Endil: (pointing? gesturing?) Endil: (there's also SD, sorta) ** Evelyn points to the little building in the distance ** Hussar: (SD ain't an original) Endil: oh Endil: "Who are these masters?" Evelyn: You know, the masters! Don't worry, theyre prolly sleeping right now, they sleep alot, but I'm sure they wouldn't mind if I showed you around' Kelly: Kelly raises an eyebrow slightly, repeating the elf's words to the others. "What kind of masters? What do they look like, Endil?" ** Endil looks to the others for sugestions ** Palai: "The stumpy people might be dwarves, I suppose, but I have no idea about these masters," says Palai Evelyn: come on! I don't wanna stay out here with the stinky dead proud whispering to Evelyn, The farm I want them to go to is in the top left of the map. Kelly: "Ask her what they look like, Endil. I don't think we should stumble after her into something potentially dangerous... we've lost enough, I think..." Endil: "All right, take us to these stumpy men." Endil stands and makes ready to leave Turjan: I agree whispering to Evelyn, The dwarves stay in the group of buildings in the top center. Obviously the snakes are in the city. ** Evelyn runs off a bit to the north east, gesturing for you to follow ** Endil: In common, "It might be better to play along, do be on your guard though" whispering to Evelyn, You can move the dot as they follow. ** Endil follows Evelyn ** Palai: Palai is uncertain how well the party might manage to hold up if it came to battle, as they had already fought two hard ones today, but he followed along after Evelyn anyhow, quaffing a potion to heal some of his wounds while he was at it. Turjan: "Doesnt look like we have much choice if we want to get her help. Perhaps these masters can help us.." Palai: drinking CLW potion [1d8+1] -> [8,1] = (9) Kelly: Kelly sighs, whispering quietly to himself, "A better battle plan would be to be forewarned..." and lightly touches the hilt of his longsword as he looks to the others before cautiously following Endil. Palai: YAY! ** Turjan follows the elf girl ** Evelyn: Hurry up slow pokes! ** Evelyn is very fast ** Palai: hmm, very fast, primitive, not too intelligent, I wonder what class she could be *coughbarbariancough* Endil: (need the red indiana jones line...) ** Evelyn runs across fields and tthrough underbrush without disreguard ** Palai: without disregard? Palai: YAY! for double negatives Endil: with regard? Endil: meh ** Evelyn seems to be running about in an odd patter ** Evelyn: Hehehehe, youre slow! ** Evelyn seems to make good sport of wearing you all out ** Hussar: New map coming up ** Evelyn finaly she grows tired and reclines in the shade of an old building ** Kelly: Kelly continues unhurriedly, ignoring the elf's jibes and making his own cautious pace. ** Turjan slows and bends over with his hands on his knees sucking in air. ** Palai: Palai tries to keep up with Evelyn, which turns out to be a difficult proposition ** Evelyn is relaxing in the shade as you all come jogging up ** Hussar: The house has obviously been abandoned for many years. The timber is rotting and broken. There are no sounds around this place and you see no tracks of animals around.
Evelyn: If you have come to searve the masters you can sleep here from now on Kelly: Kelly blinks slightly, repeating her words to the others and peering at the elf in slight confusion. Evelyn: it's real scary, but theres lots of room inside Palai: "What wonderful conditions the servants of these masters get to live in," Palai murmurs sarcastically Evelyn: Oh, the others live in the shaks over there, but I thought you'd like to move in first Hussar: brb Kelly: "Endil... ask her if she works for these... masters, and ask her what they are..." Turjan: sound like we are lgoing to be living in style... Endil: "Tell us of these Masters. What do they look like?" ** Evelyn laughs at the stupid question ** Endil: "We come from far to the south." Evelyn: Oh... you were serious Kelly: Kelly only nods in response to her question. Kelly: (Make that, statement.) Evelyn: well... you nknow, all scaly like a snake, but big Hussar: S Music Kelly: "How big, Endil?" Endil: "How big? About his size?" Motions to Palai Evelyn: some are alot bigger Evelyn: but thats mostly because of the tails Evelyn: maybe two of you put together long Endil: "I see. What do the Masters do?" Evelyn: surely you have masters down south Turjan: ooc-scary music Palai: ooc - yah, nice music Hussar Kelly: ooc - Indeed... I like it. Kelly: Kelly shakes his head at the elf. Endil: "We might, but I'm not sure if they are the same." (sounds like any creature any of us know of?" Endil: (PC knowledge, not player, though to me, it sounds like Yuan-Ti) Palai: "That cave we came through had lots of serpent imagery, maybe they're connected to it," Palai suggests Evelyn: Wow, you are dumb... The masters live in the city, and they sleep alot Turjan: whatever it is, I m not interested in meeting a snake-man thing of that size! Endil: (Or nagas from OA) Kelly: "I did not think it was wise to chase her over here, knowing nothing of the situation..." Turjan: "Palai, lets hope they do not recognize your new sword as plunder from their crypt." ** Evelyn dunks her head in the pond for a drink ** Palai: "If we didn't follow her, she might have run back and told them about us anyhow, at least this way we know something about them," says Palai Endil: "You work for them correct? The stubby people too? What work do they have you do?" Kelly: "I merely stated that I would have rather known what we were running toward... not that it was foolish to come here." ** Evelyn pulls her head out of the water and throws her long wet hair back over her shoulder ** Hussar: ooc cue Baywatch music Palai: heh Evelyn: I don't work for the stumpies, hehehehe, I work for the masters, we all serve the masters Endil: "Yes, I ment that the stubbies work for them." Hussar: anyone still here Hussar: Sorry, they are doing construction outside my house and I think its messing with my connection Kelly: I'm still here. Hussar: sorry, they are doing construction outside my house Hussar: And its messing with my internent Hussar: sometimes. (9) Endil: we all did (9) Endil: most of us ** (11) Evelyn evelyn wakes up ** (10) Turjan: another nice map Hussar: Sorry. Construction outside my house is messing with my connection once in a while./ Hussar: Ya like? I thought its cool Hussar: Modified BG map Hussar: Still missing Palai

To sum up. Evelyn, the elven maiden you saved from the troop of Proud, has led you on a merry chase across the plateau to this place. Before you stands a dark and forboding building. You would guess it was a mill at one time.
Evelyn: ive got BBC so i still see em from time to time Evelyn: *pulls her head out of the pond* Turjan: yeah they come on TV after midnight don they? Hussar: Two stories tall, it looks like this: Endil: darn, now i forget what i was going to say, or ask... Palai: *ducks to avoid getting splashed again Kelly: ooc - is this part of the place where the slaves live? Evelyn: so, you like your new house? Hussar: No. The dwarven slaves live in another part of the plateau. This place has obviously been abandoned for many years Evelyn: that's why I brought you here, you can stay here now Kelly: who else knows of this place and do others ever come here? whispering to Evelyn, No one comes here. It is taboo. Evelyn: nah, nobody lives out here but dirt spiders whispering to Evelyn, There are many stories of flesh eating ghouls. Evelyn: realy scary Kelly: are dirt spiders dangerous? Evelyn: some of the stumpies say flesh eating dead guys live out here... but nah, dirt spiders are just gross Palai: "Well that's an encouraging thought," Palai mumbles Evelyn: oh well, I guess you should move in Turjan: "well it looks like we are here for at least tonight anyway." Evelyn: I'll bring you some food if you want ** Endil punches Kelly lightly in the shoulder, "Thats your department, should it come to it." ** Hussar: Are you going to the house? Palai: might as well Kelly: no I can make us some food Endil: yup Evelyn: I'm not going in there, it's gross ** Turjan casts light on the end of his quarterstaff ** Evelyn: Oooooo... pretty Kelly: some one cast prestidigitation and clean it quick Evelyn: presti... whatsit? Endil: "Bah, it's just dirt" Endil: yay Endil: nice map Kelly: look at these ink blots and tell me what you see Endil: that's better Evelyn: *sneezes cutely* Hussar: Hey, it's the best I can do without the fog Hussar: There are two doors Turjan: ooc-I love the excorcist theme Endil: and a wall? Evelyn: well, make yourselves at home Endil: oh, your no fun anymore... Hussar: Which way are you going in? Endil: oh... nm my last post then Evelyn: I'm not going in there... it smells Endil: rather the one before... Kelly: maybe both doors at once? Evelyn: yeah, spliting up is a good idea Endil: the doors are closed? Palai: "There were usually more strumpets and fewer priests at my house, but I'll try to make myself at home anyway." Evelyn: *means it* Hussar: Yes Evelyn: Who... wer...? Hussar: Although the doors are hanging askew, it looks like they've weathered fairly well. ** Endil cracks open the door a little and peeks in ** Hussar: The interior has obviously fared little better than the exterior. Detritus covers the floor and the timbers are rotting in the moist jungle air. A still fairly solid looking stairway leads to the second floor. Light pours in through cracks in the walls and the boarded windows. The whole room is choked with dust
Evelyn: yeah, I jhope you like your new home ** Endil pulls his head out, takes a deep breath of air and walks in ** Evelyn: *coughs lightly on the dust* whispering to Hussar, Spot check [1d20] -> [20] = Endil: (Detritus = dust) Hussar: STop Endil: (pretty much) Hussar: Endil, you see something lurking under the stairs. Hussar: It looks like this... Evelyn: ew... Palai: "What a charming place, I can't imagine why there isn't anyone already living here," says Palai, stepping in Hussar: The thing looks like a man-sized, armoured grasshopper or praying mantis. It is equipped with six wickedly sharp scythe claws and heavy, venom-dripping mandibles.
** Endil quickly steps back outsite, "There's something under the staircase, to the right ** Endil: "looks like it will not apreciate new tenants" ** Evelyn rolls her sanity check ** Palai: Palai quickly follows Endil, tearing his falchion free and speaking the command word to make the flames appear Turjan: "Well Im sure you are worrying too much-what could it be under those stairs?" Kelly: kelly will move up with sheild and sword ready Hussar: Ok, no surprise, Initiatives times. Please do not say init or initiatives Hussar: You have the drop on it. Endil: so we know it's hostile right? Hussar: Looks pretty hostile. Hussar: Maybe its the dirt spiders Evelyn talked about. Evelyn: [1d20 +2] -> [20,2] = Endil: hmmm.... Endil: 20 ft right? Endil: 30? Hussar: Evelyn, you are first, but you cannot see the creature. So, Endil is first. Hussar: 30 feet Endil: k, shoot my bow at it, get sneak attack damagif it's flat-footed (i assume so) Hussar: Yes Endil: [1d20+7] -> [5,7] = (12) [1d6] -> [6] = (6) [3d6] -> [6,3,4] = (13) Endil: and move Hussar: Hits!! Endil: or is it supprise round? Hussar: No, no surprise Palai: I think it's surprise round Hussar: You both saw eachother Palai: ok Endil: then move Hussar: ok. Evelyn: I run foreward for a better look Endil: and i was not aware that Falen liked masquerading as rice paddies, or flying ones for that matter... Hussar: You can see it from there. Evelyn: ew... it's gross... Evelyn: you people are violent Endil: "So is it." ** Evelyn thinks thats all she can do right now ** Next init: (15): Flay beast Initiative Hussar: The Flay Beast charges forward. Endil: brb' Hussar: It stops there, but cannot attack. Next init: (15): Palai's turn Palai: Palai: Dodge Palai: steps up and slices Palai: Palai: Slashes with falchion: [1d20+13] -> [20,13] = (33) [2d4+10] -> [2,4,10] = (16) plus [1d6] -> [2] = (2) fire Palai: crit threat Hussar: go ahead Palai: Palai: Slashes with falchion: [1d20+13] -> [14,13] = [2d4+10] -> [2,1,10] = (13) plus [1d6] -> [4] = (4) fire Hussar: The flay beast goes down in a spray of green blood. Evelyn: Ewwww! ** Evelyn whipes the goo off her face ** Palai: "I think I'll sleep under the stars tonight," says Palai, wiping his blade on the grass Hussar: As you clean your sword, a second creature bursts from the second story window. Endil: well, that was quick... Evelyn: Eeek! Falen: "Well do--" Hussar: Palai pumped about 40 points of damage into it. Init recording on Hussar: Kelly's turn [1d20+7] -> [14,7] = init Hussar: Shads turn [1d20+3] -> [18,3] = init Hussar: Endil's turn [1d20+4] -> [15,4] = (19) init Hussar: Palai's turn [1d20+3] -> [18,3] = init Hussar: Turjan's turn [1d20+1] -> [16,1] = (17) init Hussar: Evelyn's turn [1d20+2] -> [20,2] = init Endil: ya, noticd Palai: Palai notes the creature burst out of the window. "Yes, definitely Hussar: Critter's turn [1d20+4] -> [19,4] = (23) init Turjan: wow great roles Next init: (23): Critter's turn Palai: whoa, a bunch of 21s Hussar: It charges down Evelyn: eww Hussar: Random target [1d6] -> [5] = (5) Hussar: It charges Kelly Hussar: Monster: Flay Beast lashed out [1d20+7] -> [6,7] = (13) for [1d4+1] -> [2,1] = (3) damage Hussar: Missing Next init: : Evelyn's turn Evelyn: */me backs away into the house Evelyn: lol Hussar: ok Endil: just the /me Next init: : Shads turn Palai: heh, I just realised I forgot to take my full attack against that first one Endil: well, you wouldn't have used it Hussar: You blatted it in the first attack. You didn't really need to. Hussar: Falen? Palai: yah Falen: OK, sorry Falen: Where are the walls? I'd like to move into the building but keep LOS Hussar: Can'&t you see the map? Endil: the walls are there... *points at the map* Hussar: The creature is between you and the house. Falen: Oh, OK, the miniatures are covering the walls a little Falen: Ah, never mind. Palai: yes, stay there, then I can get a full attack and my flanking bonus Endil: flanking? Palai: yes, I'll take a five foot step to the right and be flanking with Falen Endil: no ones flanking with you right now... Hussar: Falen, what are you doing? Palai: when it's my turn I'll get it Falen: Step back, magic missile Palai: bah Falen: Sorry, is this guy brave? Hussar: NOt particularly. Falen: [2d4+1] -> [2,3,1] = (6) Hussar: I think its' s good idea Palai: yah Hussar: Smack! Endil: But, don't make everyone wait for three minutes and then type, "I attack with my sword. To which I reply, "roll the dice. More waiting. "I attack [1d20+5] -> [11,5] = (16) Me: You hit. More waiting. Me: Roll damage please. More waiting. [1d8+1] -> [2,1] = (3). Next init: : Palai's turn Palai: "Tiresome things," Palai mutters, stepping up and slashing Palai: Palai: Dodge Palai: Palai: Full attack, falchion: [1d20+13] -> [20,13] = (33), [2d4+10] -> [1,1,10] = (12) plus [1d6] -> [1] = (1) fire, [1d20+8] -> [1,8] = (9) [2d4+10] -> [3,3,10] = (16) plus [1d6] -> [3] = (3) fire Palai: and another crit threat Palai: Palai: Slashes with falchion: [1d20+13] -> [6,13] = (19) [2d4+10] -> [1,3,10] = (14) plus [1d6] -> [2] = (2) fire Hussar: Yes, and the second attack misses. Palai: obviously Hussar: But the first critical blats the creature out of the air. Evelyn: EWWW! Hussar: Covering you with gore. Palai: again ** Evelyn feels the goo in her hair and shrieks ** Turjan: "Evelyn! Why didnt you tell us about these things?!? Evelyn: Didn't ask... oh well, ready to move in? ** A clean Endil stands to the side. "Nice" ** Palai: Palai starts to lean down to clean his blade, then remembers what happens the last time he did that and instead eyes the windows suspiciously

Evelyn: Don't look at me like that, I didn't know those things lived in here Evelyn: I told ya the stumpies tell stories about thsi place Evelyn: honest... ** Evelyn looks like she's about to cry ** ** Turjan casts a leery glance at Evelyn, "I think it wise if we keep our eye on her" He whispers to Kelly. ** ** Evelyn curls up in the corner and shivers ** Kelly: Kelly nods to Turjan Palai: "Right now I'm inclined to believe them," Palai mutters. ** Endil puts his bow back over his shoulder and moves into the building again ** Turjan: "Remember our goal is to recover the shard of the sword of your diety, Kelly. Lets use the first oppurtunity to question her." Kelly: yes Palai: deciding that no more of the things are going to come bursting out of windows, Palai stoops and wipes his blade clean ** Endil does not translate Turjan's idea ** ** Evelyn sniffles ** ** Evelyn nods ** Hussar: Entering the building, you sneeze in the dust. ** Endil pays little attention to the others and goes about looking through the building ** Falen: (OOC: LOL) Endil: which is why i took that breath... Palai: hearing Evelyn starting to cry, Palai moves up and awkwardly puts his hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, it's not any fault of yours," he says soothingly, before he remembers that she doesn't understand what he's saying. "Bloody hell, one of you translate that," he says Hussar: brb Palai: brb Endil: brb as well ** Evelyn recoils a bit ** Kelly: ooc Hussar: The second floor of the mill looks like this... Kelly: hehe Hussar: Searching the building, you find the grizly remains of previous meals, but little else. The walls, although badly damaged by rot and time, still appear stable.
Palai: the second floor of the mill looks like a picture with the middle cut out of it Hussar: Scroll up and down and that should be sorted. Palai: did Hussar: or right click and click refresh mini. Palai: well clicking on it fixes it Palai: I moved it by accident though Hussar: np Hussar: The boxes in the second floor are all broken and rotted. Hussar: Crap brb Kelly: if we have a rogue, we should search those crates Kelly: darn Evelyn: want me to search em, I like to explore! Hussar: Back. Endil: i'm a rogue, or maybe you didn't notice the sneak attacks Hussar: Search away. Turjan: "Those creatures were supisingly weak...Do you think more of them will come?" Evelyn: ro...guoo? Evelyn: ewww.. Turjan: chinese food I bet Kelly: I want some too Hussar: Naw, groceries Palai: OOC - I hope not, I'm not sure how many crits I can pull off Endil: yum, raw fish Endil: never had it Hussar: Really? It really is quite good. ** Evelyn thinks sushi is ok, still prefers potatoes though ** Kelly: i like it with hot taco sauce Kelly: but hey everything is good with salsa Turjan: Hussar lives in Japan Endil: havn't had a reason to have it yet, more familiar stuff was always less expesive Falen: In Vancouver, you could actually get sushi with hot sauce Evelyn: Mc' Thulhu's shushi drive through Turjan: thats an odd combo-very vancouver sounding Evelyn: where the fish is blasphemously good Hussar: Anyway, back to the game. Palai: heh Falen: Not taco sauce, more like that Vietnamese rooster sauce stuff... Turjan: is it good? The sushi and hot sauce? Falen: Right-O Turjan: ohhh Hussar: Searching through the boxes, thou dost find spiders and dirt. Kelly: anything on the prior victims? Evelyn: Dirt spiders are icky! ** Palai steps on a spider ** Evelyn: ew! Endil: "Hey Kelly," Hussar: No. Most of the bones appear to be hollow and not humanoid. Kelly: "Yes?" Hussar: A few are obviously dwarf bones. Endil: "There's a spider on your elbow." Evelyn: no there's not Kelly: smashes it with a mini-mace that doubles as a key chain Evelyn: youre stinky Kelly: oh an arachnid trick, very funny magic boy Hussar: Remember language barriers please. Kelly: lol Endil: heh Endil: yes, unless otherwise specified, i am translating what the others say Palai: we really need to teach her Common Evelyn: so... this is where you get to live from now on Hussar: Other than the two predators, there appears to be nothing here. The roof is still mostly intact and the shade is comfortingly cool after the blazing tropical sun. Evelyn: hope you like it Palai: "That's fine, if by 'from now on' you mean 'until the morning'." Evelyn: no, this is your house now Hussar: Until otherwise stated, I am assuming that Endil is translating everything. Endil: yup Palai: yes Hussar: Kelly's spell has long since run out. Turjan: What if those things laid eggs in here that are just waiting to hatch Endil: i said that actually Kelly: ask her if she can read or speak the language of the snake men Endil: sure Evelyn: you mean the masters? Kelly: yes Kelly: nods whispering to Evelyn, They speak titan. Hussar: ooc, don't worry, just bringing up a new map. Evelyn: they speak in a big mean voice sometimes Palai: "You're right Turjan, we should probably spend the night outside instead of tempt the fates," says Palai Evelyn: well, I better get back to town before they wonder about me Kelly: if we secure this place, it is possibly defensible Hussar: You did not turn up any eggs in your search. Kelly: tell her not to speak of us Endil: "ya, about as defensible as a lean-to." Endil: ok Evelyn: not even to the stumpies? Turjan: Ahh-but they never do....until they hatch and try to eat you! Kelly: and ask her about the sword shard - probably a glowing piece of metal Kelly: the eggs are inside of evelyn Evelyn: I eat eggs! Falen: How do you know they lay eggs? Endil: so do i, but only for breakfast Palai: Palai glances at Endil and slides a finger across his mouth before speaking. "If we don't get her to agree to not speak of us...maybe we should make sure she doesn't go back to town," he says Evelyn: what was that about a chunk off a sword? Kelly: yes surprise is one of our advantages - let's not lose it on foolishness of a girl ** Evelyn counts her toes and giggles ** Evelyn: Why're you all looking at me like that? Kelly: translated into elven - "Have you seen an unusual piece of metal - it may even glow? Evelyn: hmmmm.... ** Endil sits on the stairs ** Turjan: "My dear, we are wondering if we have to make a very tough and sad decision" Evelyn: I remember something that glowed ** Endil waits before translating that ** Endil: turjan's stuff Palai: whistling tunelessly, Palai steps in between Evelyn and the door, knowing their chances of catching the girl if she runs are slim to nil Evelyn: the masters took it Evelyn: I think they keep it up in their temple, right after it fell out of the sky, it was pretty ** Evelyn keeps counting her toes ** Kelly: it would be nice to get more information on the temple layout and possible location of this piece of sky metal Evelyn: lay..out? Endil: "Kelly, check the sun." Asking Kelly to stand in the other doorway Kelly: moves to door way ** Evelyn looks around curiously ** Evelyn: what's going on? Endil: "Just checking the time." ** Evelyn shrugs and goes back to her toes ** ** Endil translates turjan's bit now ** Palai: Palai makes the flames on his sword go out and resheathes the weapon, as he had no intention of using it on Evelyn even if she tried to run Evelyn: so Evelyn: are you gonna unpack and settle in? Turjan: "We need her promise of secrecy-tell her we are going to play a game" Endil: sure ** Endil takes his pack off and throws it in a corner and wanders over there to set up his bedroll ** Evelyn: I like games? Evelyn: Whatre you gonna play? Turjan: "she cannot say anything aout us to anyone else and we cannot say anything about her to other people. " Evelyn: that sounds like a dumb game... anyone know tiddly-winks? Palai: "It's a lot more fun than it sounds like," Palai says with an encouraging smile Turjan: "Looks like we are staying here for the night. " CosmicHorror: Yep Evelyn: ok, so i'll see you guys later Evelyn: walks over to the door ** Turjan pulls out a ball and some jacks and begins teaching evelyn ** Evelyn: Ooo Evelyn: what's that? Palai: "Are you going to play our game, Evelyn?" Palai asks Kelly: ask her if she can find out more about the temple and location of the sky metal Turjan: "Bounce this ball, and then pick up as many jacks as you can!" ** Evelyn crawls over to look at the bouncing ball ** ** Turjan demonstrates ** ** Evelyn snatches at the jacks ** Kelly: ooc - "SHE"S GOT THE JACK" Turjan: "You can only pick them up when the ball is bouncing" Hussar: Is anyone going to sleep on the second floor? ** Turjan presses the ball and jacks into evelyns hand and makes a shhhh gesture to her ** Palai: Palai intends to sleep outside, unless no one else is Kelly: I thought it was day time? Endil: naw, it gets too hot up there

Hussar: Late afternoon. Evelyn: yay1 Hussar: And, most of you are out of spells. Hussar: And hurt. ** Endil looks around for a small piece of wood that he could possibly work with ** Palai: except for me, because I don't have any spells Kelly: well fortunately sleep does not relate to my ability to recover spells - unfortunately I have to wait until dawn Turjan: "Yes, perhaps I will sleep upstairs and keep the first watch." Kelly: if they are hurt I can heal them before bed Evelyn: Can I show the stumpies my new toy? Palai: I'm at full hp Endil: and i'm not hurt because the gods of the dice like keeping me alive, but not letting me kill things Kelly: surely I have some of my 24 spells left over Hussar: Turjan and you are both chewed on. Turjan: No-dont show anyone! Evelyn: Awwwww.... Palai: "No, they'd ask you where you got it and then you'd have to tell them about us." Hussar: I sent you the list of spells didn't I? Kelly: I did not get it ** Evelyn clutches the ball and jacks close to her chest ** Evelyn: ok... Hussar: Yeah, and your hp are wrong. Actually, you are not hurt. Sorry. Hussar: Just Turjan is hurt. Kelly: sorry - I cannot tell which node you sent me ** Evelyn walks to the door ** ** Evelyn looks around ** Evelyn: youre all very strange Kelly: ok I have enough spells to heal us up - then we need to wait until morning ** Endil keeps looking around for a small chunk of wood ** Hussar: That's not a problem. You find one. Hussar: There are lots in the mill. Endil: k Turjan: "I need time to sleep and study my spells-if there are no objections, I will take my leave for the evening." Palai: which door is Evelyn going for, the one Palai's in the way of or the one Kelly's in the way of? Evelyn: that door Hussar: (Scroll right. Palai: bah, hadn't realised the map was there Endil: (yours palai Palai: hoping that he's right in his assumption that Evelyn has decided to keep quiet about them, Palai moves out of the way ** Evelyn giggles and runs off ** Falen: "Uh..." Turjan: Do you see something Falen? Kelly: yeah hussar Falen: Well, she doesn't run off to anywhere in particular, yeah? Palai: I'd assume she's running back to 'town' ** Evelyn runs off into the distance ** Kelly: I have 2 1st level cure spells and 4 2nd level cure spells - how much is anyone down? Palai: "So are we staying inside, or are some of you going to join me outside for the night?" asks Palai Endil: "I'll stay inside." Turjan: I could use a 1st level cure, Kelly Hussar: Arrange yourselves as to where you are. Hussar: brb, potty break Palai: Palai decides to change his mind. "I suppose if there were any more of those things, they'd have showed themselves by now," he says Kelly: [1d8 + 5] -> [3,5] = (8) Kelly: cure to turjan Endil: that is just to full Kelly: anyone need more healing? Palai: nope Endil: not me Kelly: we should put an outside and inside watch Kelly: to avoid surprises Palai: yes, put someone at the door ** Endil volunteeres for the inside watch ** Kelly: I thought Endil needed to sleep for spells? Palai: we could use some darkvision here, damn Grimnoor for dying Endil: i'm a rogue! not a spellcaster! Palai: Endil is a rogue, he doesn't cast spells Kelly: oh - watch your coin purses then Palai: Falen, Turjan, and Kelly cast spells Turjan: thanks Hussar: And, Kelly, your HP should be adjusted. Palai: and I don't think Endil has any Pick Pocket ranks Endil: nope, nor do i have any slight of hand ranks Hussar: So, you have a light dinner and settle in for the evening. Turjan: think being the important word Kelly: sorry - I can't remember how to adjust hit points Evelyn: control s Evelyn: under chat tab Hussar: The darkness envelops the house, and silence falls over the plateau. As the moon comes out, the entire area is bathed in a soft glow. The silence is unnerving though after the cacophany of sounds in the jungle.
Falen: Do we have a watch? Palai: who's watching at the door? Palai: Endil would probably be best, he's got low-light vision, he only needs to rest for two hours, and he's got good Spot and Listen mods (I think) Evelyn: nobody Hussar: you settle in and try to get comfortable in the dusty, old mill. Suddenly a howl breaks through the stillness. It sounds like a wolf's lonely cry.
Kelly: we need an inside and outside watch Hussar: There are windows. Kelly: lets check up inside the chimney before we sleep Hussar: The house was searched thoroughly. ** Endil draws his rapier ** Hussar: the howl is repeated. Then again a third time.
Hussar: A howling outside brings you to the windows. Outside in the moonlight, you see shapes moving. All lope on all fours, six of the creatures appear canine, while a seventh is far larger and much more hideous. The six houndlike creatures have eyes which glow a putrid green. The far larger creature pauses in the moonlight and you get a good look. This vile creature is outwardly humanoid, with mottled flesh and burning red eyes. Itfs jaws are large and heavy and itfs sick looking skin sprouts thorns and spikes. It shambles forward, walking partially on its knuckles like a mighty ape, a nest of slimy tentacle-like growths writhing from its abdomen.
Palai: Palai is woken from sleep by a howling noise. He leaps out of his bed and grabs his falchion, speaking a word to make the flames appear. Palai: is it moving towards us? ** Evelyn curls up by the fire and plays with her jacks... hehehehehe ** Palai: spotting the creature, Palai causes the fire to go out, not wanting to let the creature know they're there

Turjan: Ooh nice pic Turjan: quick we must defend the house. Falen: Falen shakes himself free of drowsiness, and unlimbers his bow. Turjan: "Should we abandon the top floor?" Kelly: Wakes up and readies his bow and a possible spell Palai: Palai resheathes his blade and fumbles in the dark for his bow and quiver Hussar: ok, I think it's initiatives time. There is no surprise. Evelyn: ooc ou shoudl abricade the house and go down into the basement Next init: : Turjan's turn Palai: got any more lightning bolts? Kelly: ?? Turjan: have my spells refreshed? Hussar: no Hussar: It is currently about four hours after sunset. Kelly: i am still here Turjan: sorry Palai-no more lightning bolts, but I do have a haste spell and a couple of grease spells Palai: I could use a haste, and grease would be good to slow these things Palai: cast grease in front of the doors Palai: on the ground right in front of them, that is Turjan: Okay, Im going to ready a grease spell Turjan: move down staits Hussar: cast away Evelyn: i hear that spell is the word Turjan: end Hussar: You can see the doorway. Look out the window. Palai: yes, cast it, don't just ready it Turjan: just readying-ill wait till they charge Palai: there are two doors Hussar: ok Palai's turn Palai: do I have line of sight to the beast? Hussar: You'd have to move into the doorway. Palai: bah, I was hoping for a five foot step to see him, but oh well Hussar: (assuming the door is open) Palai: to the door then Palai: Palai: Dodge Palai: on the beast Palai: Palai: Shoots bow [1d20+10] -> [8,10] = (18) [1d8+4] -> [4,4] = (8) Palai: and that's at the beast Hussar: hitting Next init: (16): Endil's turn Palai: no, I don't want to be standing there, I want to be one square above, so I can get some cover Endil: grab my bow and move to a window Palai: if I can do that and still have line of sight Hussar: Fire away Endil: i can't fire Endil: move action to pick up a weapon and move action to move Hussar: ok. np. Move to where you want to be then. Assume there is a window there. Next init: (13): Shads turn Hussar: Or Falen Rather Falen: Move to a window and fire. Falen: [1d20+6] -> [16,6] = Hussar: Assuming the beast. Hit! Falen: [1d6] -> [2] = (2) Turjan: "Endil and kelly move closer to Palai and Fallen, I m going to cast a spell of haste on all of us in the next round" Next init: (7): Hound's turn Falen: Yes, sorry. Woo, damage monger! Endil: a bit late for that now... Palai: I think haste only affects one person Hussar: Three of the hounds howl. Endil: this is most defenatly 3.5 Hussar: No, this is still mostly 3.0 Endil: check the forum again Hussar: Since most people still do not have 3.5 Hussar: I've been trying to make the change, but no one else wanted to. Kelly: my pc is 3.0 Endil: i don't and i'm using it Palai: I've got the books, I'd rather not switch though since the PrC Palai is going for doesn't exist in 3.5 Hussar: ANYWAY. This can be discussed later Palai: ok Kelly: who's init? Hussar: Falen, failed, Endil faile Palai: the hounds Hussar: Everyone shut up please Hussar: One more time. Palai: say 'turn', not the i-word Hussar: Kelly, I need two more saves from you Hussar: So far, Endil and Falen have failed. Kelly: [1d20 + 9] -> [4,9] = (13) [1d20 + 9] -> [10,9] = (19) Hussar: Ok, Endil and Falen are both stunned. Hussar: The other three Hounds move forward. Endil: i would have thought shaken... Next init: (7): Beast's turn Hussar: Turjan, you can take you held action if you wish. Turjan: Grease: Turjans casts Gilgads Wonderous Lubrication on the ground (R:35ft, AoE:10x10, Rflx DC 14+2(spellfocus +2 conjuration) DC=16 Hussar: It hits the grease and Ref save [1d20+4] -> [9,4] = (13) Hussar: Slips and falls prone at Palai's feet. Palai: dammit Hussar: Kelly, take your turn now. Hussar: sorry, that was my mistake. Hussar: I skipped you. Palai: so it falls prone at my feet and then gets up before I can slice it Kelly: ooc - can the beast be attacked WITH a bow? Kelly: since it fell Hussar: Grr, I hate when I hit the wrong button. Hussar: Sure. You do realize fro mteh stench that this thing isn't exactly alive. Hussar: I thought the trailing guts was a bit of a giveaway. Endil: prone gives -4 AC to melee and +4 AC for ranged attacks Kelly: Then make a turning attempt - wait - need to look up Palai: so do I, especially since it always seems to happen when I'm doing well in the order Hussar: np Hussar: Sorry about snapping guys. I was trying to read about 15 different saving throws, all done on separate lines and it was tricky. Kelly: [1d20 + 2] -> [11,2] = (13) Hussar: So, up to 8 hd. Roll damage Endil: is HD +1 i think Turjan: ooc-cool I understand Kelly: [2d6 + 7 + 2] -> [6,1,7,2] = (16) Endil: distroyed? Hussar: No, running like hell Palai: YAY! Hussar: The beast is unaffected. Endil: ah, so they have more then 8 HD Hussar: ok, so new round. Next init: (19): Shads turn Falen: Still stunned? Hussar: no, unstunned now. Hussar: Grr, I hate messing up inits. Hussar: aw well, it's my mistake. You are, however, still shaken. Hussar: -1 on saves and attacks. Palai: this is why I don't bother to use the in-it tracker, I just keep track of it in Word Hussar: Usually works well, I just screwed up. Falen: Move, burning hands Hussar: heh. Hussar: You can hit it from there. Falen: [3d4] -> [4,3,1] = (8) Palai: of course then I get a bunch of people asking me whose turn it is, so it about balances out I suppose Hussar: It gets an aoo though. reach. Falen: Aw crap Palai: it's prone, can it get an AoO from there? Hussar: Monster: It's tongue strikes out [1d20+9] -> [4,9] = (13) touch attack

Endil: no, standing from prone does not draw AoO Hussar: Actually, it has cover from the doorway. You do not get an aoo Hussar: sorry. Palai: bah Hussar: It does transfer Falen to the waving tendrils in its stomach. Hussar: Freeing up its tongue. Next init: (7): Palai's turn Hussar: You also don't get an aoo because you are holding a bow. Narin (enter): 12:12 Palai: it's one person only if we're using the 3.0 version Narin: hello Hussar: haste is still only one person Kelly: hi Turjan: alright Palai then Narin: is this a game in the making or a current game? i badly wish to join a game. Palai: thanks muchly Endil: well, then it would be better to cast in on yourself Hussar: cool, Palai gains a +4 ac and an extra action each round. (19): Shads turn Endil: 3.0 haste is wasted on fighters Hussar: Shads bleeds softly Falen: *gurgle* Next init: (16): Hound's turn Hussar: The hound charges Turjan: I would cast it on myself but I have all of 2 spells left and would not be that useful Palai: yes Palai: if you had two lightning bolts then it would be useful Hussar: Monster: Ghoul Hound snaps at you [1d20+4] -> [18,4] = Palai: who's he snapping at? whispering to Narin, You are welcome to lurk, but please do not make open comments, you can whisper all you like. Perhaps they will return with larger forces?" Kelly: I do not think we can move as fast as a ghoul dog can run Palai: "Don't bother, I doubt we could manage to catch up to the things. We should keep an eye out though, they might return when the turning stops affecting them." Falen: Saving Throws: Fortitude [+4+1d20] -> [4,14] = (18) Hussar: Cool, you made your fort save vs ghoul fever. Kelly: begins to pray for falen Turjan: "Kelly, what can we do to help him?" Kelly: I can only heal his wounds until tomorrow Hussar: I think this is a good place to end it for the night if people are getting tired. Falen: (Falen has fallen... get it?) Palai: I can keep going Kelly: i suggest we watch him and maybe restrain him until we can help him Hussar: I think we can assume everyone is healed up. Turjan: weve heard it before Turjan: Yeah I still would like to play some more Endil: i can keep going, but i'm going to be more and more surly as the time goes on Palai: or in my case, unwounded altogether Kelly: I can play Turjan: is that possible? Falen: Oh, yeah, it's night in some places, isn't it? Narin: hello Hussar: here Narin: are you all done? Endil: Turjan: you don't want to see me role play in a bad mood Hussar: Shadow's site Palai: Palai is considering flinging Endil in the lake after he first decides not to help recover Grimnoor's corpse and then walks off when Falen is injureed Palai: *injured Narin: ok ill look dont leave until i say yea or nay please (lol) Hussar: The night passes uneventfully. Spells are regained and wounds are healed before being prayed for again. ** Evelyn wants you to kick his ass;) ** ** Turjan rumages through his back for something that might be useful ** Palai: err...that last bit of that sentence was rather oddly phrased, Hussar, I doubt any of us are praying for wounds Falen: (There may be holes in my back, but please don't rummage through them) Narin: which one is your forum??? Turjan: City of Mithril 2/3 of the way dow n from the top Endil: no one's here at the moment Hussar: I meant praying for spells Hussar: errrm, Hell, you knew what I meant. Palai: hehe, I knew what you meant Hussar: You never fail to amaze me. Hussar: actually, I would like to call it quits here. Surprisingly, my internet connection has been healthy all morning. Endil: i'm in the temple right? Palai: we'll have to split our party up Palai: I'm going to suggest Endil-Palai-Turjan-Kelly at the temple, and the others at the bridge Hussar: I think the plan, it's rather long and I can'T remember quite right, is that kelly, palai and two others are in the temple. Palai: and I'm going to suggest to Kelly that he use lesser planar ally Hussar: Remember Shads has sneak attack. Palai: Endil has much better sneak attack Hussar: He's never met anything from another plane, so he can't ally. Palai: the spell does that for you Hussar: Yes, I was thinking Shads instead of Turjan. Turjan has fireball, much better against the Proud Endil: hey hussar, are we using 3.0 or 3.5 rules for skills? Hussar: Why? Palai: there are a few differences Palai: like Jump not being limited by height in 3.5 Endil: for my unbounded leap, in 3.0 it lets you jump without being limited by height Hussar: Then it doesn't really matter then does it. Endil: well, it doesn't do anything for me if we are in 3.5 Palai: it matters for everyone who doesn't have that Endil: i'd like to get something out of 1st level theif-acrobat other then kip up and +2 ref Palai: does Turjan have fireball? just noticed that Hussar: Guys, in almost a full year of play, I have seen players jump maybe once. Palai: I know he has lightning bolt Hussar: Hey. Endil: i'm planning on jumping more Hussar: Heh. Palai: but we'll need Turjan for gaseous form Palai: hey Kelly Kelly: hey Kelly: cooking still Hussar: np. You're early Kelly: kk whispering to Endil, Hmm. You have a point. whispering to Endil, I'll have to take a look at the kit. Just a sec Hussar: Thinks I got things sorted Endil: again? Hussar: Brb, coffee break Endil: brb, hot chocolate break Hussar: back Hussar: Still waiting for Turjan, his buddy FRP and Grimnoor. Palai: what about Melegaunt? Hussar: He's going to give things a pass until we get back to the ship. He didn'T want to play a Dwarf. Palai: ah, ok Hussar: He wants Elias back. Hussar: Which is no problem. Should be fun. And, it should happen fairly soon. Hussar: Wish people could come on time. Palai: yah, just gotta get this over with Palai: yes Hussar: Thanks a lot. Humph. I set up an epic struggle and you say, "gotta get it over with." Phoooey Palai: lol, ok, we need to heroically fight our way through this climactic confrontation that you have so masterfully crafted and set before us until we can return and welcome back our old comrade Palai: is that better? Hussar: Much, thank you. Endil: back Endil: something i noticed about the wall paper, you should put shads' site URL up there Hussar: Yeah, but since you can't click it, there's not much point. It appears in the opening message of each room. Endil: true Hussar: Kelly, you know where Grim is? Endil: or Ev in this case Kelly: no Kelly: checkedAIM Kelly: not on it Hussar: Hrm. Well, the three of you are going to do the temple. Who's your fourth? Palai: I think Turjan would be best Palai: since he's the one who can use gaseous form Endil: i nominate... the Red one Hussar: He can cast it on anyone. Hussar: The timing is a little tricky, but, if you want a different fourth, I'll allow it. Palai: I was thinking that Palai and Endil could go in in gaseous form and mug the snakewoman, and Kelly and Turjan (possibly along with someone else if Kelly uses Lesser Planar Ally) could come in through the door Kelly: also we were going to spend a day building the bridge and also recovering spells - b/c turjan already used one of his gaseoius form spells today Palai: yes, and then Turjan could use that day to scribe some scrolls Hussar: He's got nothing to scribe with. Palai: I was thinking a web scroll to give to Falen to use at the bridge ambush, and a gaseous form scroll to free up a slot Palai: damn Palai: does anyone have any writing materials? Palai: I doubt the dwarves do Kelly: yes I have paper and ink Endil: if you don't mind ripping it, i have a dagger Hussar: Requires slightly more than paper and ink guys. You need raw materials. Hussar: Little tricky to find in the middle of a jungle. Palai: yah Palai: damn Endil: 1/2 the market price Hussar: Not impossible, but tricky. Palai: reminder for future adventures: always have Turjan carry around some materials for making scrolls Palai: how many 3rd level spells per day does Turjan get? Endil: or carry around premade scrolls Kelly: 2 Endil: with int? Hussar: Endil, someone is PMing me on MSN with your name. Kelly: maybe 3 Palai: it would have to be 3 with Int Hussar: Cosmichorror. Endil: what's the E-mail? Palai: or maybe not, nm, it could still be 2 Endil: that is if you don't want to talk to them Hussar: He's stopped. Who is he? Hussar: They're laying fiberoptic and that's what's screwing things up apparently. I've had absolutely no problems all week. Endil: why do they have to work on wednesdays? Hussar: Well, Thursday for me. Endil: ya Hussar: Where is everyone? Hussar: Sheesh Palai: it's a plot by the snakemen to delay their horrible demise Palai: ...or maybe not Hussar: Heh Palai: and Kelly was here a second ago, so he should be back shortly, everyone else is still AWOL Hussar: This is getting annoying. I finally get things sorted and half my players are AWOL. Kelly: I just noticed that one person is at Mithril -= Fight at the Bridge Hussar: Yeah, me Kelly: Oh I was hoping it was one of our lost sheep Hussar: I'm multi talented. Thanks to the help of some people. Hussar: Really, all we need is Turjan. Palai: yes Palai: or any one other person, though he'd be most helpful Kelly: well we could travel and build the bridge over turtle river as a mini-adventure Palai: I normally don't run games unless just over half my players are there Kelly: b/c we do have to sleep and get spells back Kelly: I cannot get spells until tomorrow's dawn Palai: I had an idea on how to get the shard back easily enough, perhaps Palai: Turjan could cast a web centered around the mosaic, and Kelly could use Freedom of Movement on himself and then dart in while they're all webbed Palai: of course we'd still have to kill all the snakemen afterward Kelly: it would suck if the web caught on fire - LOL Endil: kill em while they are in the web Palai: yes Palai: get them all together, web them, and use Freedom of Movement on Palai, and he can walk in and Whirlwind them Hussar: The dwarves will tell you that the Proud and the snakes are least active in the mid day heat. Hussar: Tell you what. I'll create the room for the temple fight and you can plan from there. k? Palai: those lazy sods, we'll have to give them some exercise Palai: 5 ft a square? Hussar: I'm going to wait in the lobby. If you have any questions, just pm me on MSN Hussar: yup. Palai: k Hussar: 5 foot squares.] Endil: sure Kelly: hey hussar? Hussar: Yes Kelly: are we assuming it is tomorrow and we have new spells? Palai: HUZZAH! Hussar: yup Turjan: ((sorry, had to go to the bank this morning)) Palai: excellent, web is a 20 foot radius, so if he centered it on the mosaic it would get everyone except the woman Palai: and Endil and I can deal with her Palai: brb Palai: back Turjan: how goes the planning? Palai: how many 3rd level spells a day does Turjan get, just 2? Turjan: yes, just 2 Palai: damn Palai: what's your Int? Turjan: 4 1st level and 4 2nd level Palai: you get bonus spells for high Intelligence, you know Turjan: 17 Hussar: So, once the Proud leave, you enter the temple, take up positions and attack at the same time. Right? The proud will be drawn away by the disturbance in the fields by the dwarves. The dwarves will be backed up by Shads and Evelyn. Am I correct so far. Palai: then you should get 3 3rd level spells per day, not 2 Hussar: (Not a specialist) Palai: I do believe that's correct Palai: doesn't matter Endil: don't have to be Hussar: Turjan, what level are you? Palai: all wizards get bonus spells for high Intelligence Kelly: it is based on the table in the front of PHB Hussar: 5th or 6th? Turjan: 6th level Hussar: Ahh, then, yes three spells/day Kelly: Do we really need create food and water today? Hussar: Don't think so. The dwarves have farms. Palai: I suggest two gaseous forms and a haste, Endil and Palai can go in gaseous, and you can haste Kelly before you enter Turjan: k, sounds good ** Turjan memorizes spells from his book ** Endil: 3.5 haste? Hussar: yup Palai: then Kelly will be able to bust off two spells a round and move faster to get to the shard Hussar: No double spells. Endil: then it's an area i do beleave Palai: damn Hussar: Nope Hussar: 1 target. Mass haste is area Endil: ah right Palai: nope, the 3.5 version of haste is area Hussar: oops Palai: Targets: One creature/level, no two of which can be more than 30 feet apart Turjan: thats ok-kelly should be able to move faster, attack and cast Endil: One creature/level, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart Endil: lasting 6 rounds !Official RULING! : Yes, that is correct. +1 attack +1 ac +1 attack/round with full attack, +30 movement Endil: so how about this, gassous me and palai, then haste us all Kelly has sent you a tree node... Endil: we'd be able to get into the temple faster Palai: so he could gaseous Endil and me, then haste us all, and then Endil and I move in Endil: beat you to it Palai: mine was more detailed !Official RULING! : Gaseous movement is only 10 feet per round, so 20 with haste. Kelly: here is a thought - give palai a coin with silence cast on it - then he alone can engage the snake woman who could not cast spells - after she is dead he throws the coin away

Endil: still Endil: go faster Endil: or gives it back Palai: our haste spell would possibly run out by the time we reached the snake woman Endil: and turjan dismisses it Endil: ture Endil: true Palai: and that could work Endil: would still be good to use though Turjan: my haste spell will last about 6 minutes !Official RULING! : It's going to have to be haste on one group or the other !Official RULING! : 6 rounds Endil: 6 rounds Palai: why only one group or the other? Turjan: *6 rounds and gaseous form maybe 12 Endil: could haste all 4 of us Palai: does it not affected people when they're gaseous? Turjan: *minutes Hussar: Because if you haste all of you, it would run out before you get to the snake woman. Hussar: 3.5 haste lasts 1 round/level. Palai: maybe Endil: would still move there quicker Palai: depends on how Turjan and Kelly intend to get in Hussar: So, what's the plan boys? Palai: mind if I draw on the whiteboard? Hussar: go ahead Palai: ok, we could all gather here, where I'm drawing in red, to the south of where the serpentwoman is Palai: is there a window there? Hussar: Yes Palai: hmm Palai: anywhere near that where there isn't a window? Hussar: sure Palai: ok, then gather in that spot Hussar: ok Hussar: then Hussar: What next Palai? Palai: then we could use gaseous on everyone who intends to go in that way ( Kelly and I were just debating whethere Palai could kill the snakewoman myself, hence the little silence) Palai: and then haste the next round Endil: i can act silenced Kelly: cast haste on a stone and then throw away - keeps the snake woman quiet Endil: silence you meen Kelly: the two magic users would attack from outside then Palai: it's about 40 feet from there to the serpentwoman, if we move 20 feet in gaseous form then we could reach her in two rounds, one if we can double move Kelly: opps yes silence Hussar: No double move as gaseous. Kelly: you would have to move in when she was quiet since it has a radius of 15 feet Kelly: but one round should get you there Palai: and meanwhile, the ones who aren't going in could rush to wherever they're going, they'd be able to double move and they'd be hasted, so 120 feet a round Palai: the door is sadly all the hell on the other side, so it might take them two or three rounds to get there Palai: we should incidentally have someone check the door for traps and/or a lock first, this plan could be ruined if they can't get in Palai: do you know Knock Turjan? Turjan: yes, I do Palai: could prep that in case we need it Palai: let me see how long it would take them to go from there to the door, assuming that's where they're going in Palai: does a diagonal count as 5 feet or 10? Hussar: The windows are open Hussar: 10 Palai: ah Palai: how high up are the windows? Endil: really 7.5 Hussar: Ground level. Palai: so they could possibly just climb in, or jump in Kelly: doesn't the entrace open to two different sides of the temple once we move in from the outside? Hussar: Here's a pic of the outside Kelly: lets see the inside if possible Turjan: Ahh, the good old Temple of Useme Endil: looks like another entrince on the side Hussar: big window Endil: with stairs? Hussar: stairs all the way around the place Kelly: I have the outside superimposed over the interior? Hussar: Don't be too picky. Palai: so once the non-gaseous people came in, Turjan could web the people in the middle of the room, centered on the mosaic, and that would be the cue for Palai and Endil (if Endil comes with) to start pounding the crap out of the snakewoman Palai: and Kelly could dart in to grab the shard Palai: and hopefully we'd be able to take the snakewoman out fairly quickly and then we could all beat on the remaining snakemen, starting with those that manage to escape the web (if any) Kelly: turjan and I could approach from each different side of the entrance Palai: could, that'd be harder to coordinate though Palai: and if the doors are both locked, you'll have a tough time getting in Kelly: harder than climbing in an 8 foot high window? Palai: heh, true Palai: got a jump spell or two handy, Turjan? Turjan: no, sorry Endil: 8 feet is only 2-3 feet higher then your heads, you could reach it Turjan: not even in my spellbook Hussar: There are no doors. Hussar: Just an opening Hussar: The whole temple is open. The windows are about 3 feet off the ground Hussar: Getting into this place ain't difficult. Palai: the snakes probably don't expect to have to defend the place from a frontal assault Hussar: You can enter at pretty much any point you wish. Endil: or a quardinated one for that mater Hussar: coordinated? Endil: ya Palai: that too Endil: quad too Palai: quardinated - a coordinated attack by four people Kelly: the front door - we could creep along the walls of the circle - get closer to the shard and snakemen than a side window Endil: since there's for of us Hussar: Where you are right now is about as close to the mosaic as you can get. Turjan: so, I dont need the gaseous form spells? Palai: for Palai and Endil, yes Palai: if we're going to go in gaseous and beat on the serpentwoman Hussar: Yes, you will. The only way you are getting anywhere near the town is invisible and gaseoused. The Proud would smell you a mile away otherwise. Palai: we could just jump in the window, but she'd have more time to respond to that Palai: aren't the Proud being diverted by the dwarves? Palai: or rather distracted Hussar: Yup, but you still need to be near the town for this to work. Hussar: I thought you were going to be almost at the temple before the dwarves distracted the proud. That gives you the most time before any proud can come back. Kelly: we should begin as close to the temple as we can get - like where we were yesterday during the recon mission Kelly: and the distraction is an ambush for the proud so hopefully they are dead or busy Palai: yes Palai: of course if we go near the temple normally, we might have to worry about the snakes hearing us, especially since all the windows are open Kelly: lit the crops, ambush at the bridge, attacks from other sides by dwarves and we engage in the temple Hussar: That was the plan as I understood it. Kelly: I think you better use the gaseous form spells Palai: yah, wait where we were last week (which we could get to without being gaseous/invisible) and wait for the Proud to run off Kelly: and then appear and attack and try to get surprise Palai: and once they've been gone for a few minutes, attack the temple Hussar: I'm assuming that things will look something like this... Palai and Endil flank serpentwoman while gaseoused. Kelly and Turjan come in, cast spells and Palai and Endil attack. Palai: yes, that's the idea Hussar: Cool. SOunds good Palai: Palai should flank the side nearest to the others, since he's more durable Palai: the other snakes ,that is Hussar: Ok, let's get going. Move your minis to wherer you are just before the attack Hussar: Just before you start attacking the snakes Hussar: I mean Endil: like that? Endil: there you go Hussar: yup Hussar: palai? Palai: so what spells active on everyone? Palai: just moved Hussar: remember, you can't be within 15 feet if you are silenced

Kelly: wait Kelly: time out Kelly: I need to know what turjan plans first Endil: silence is not an anti-magic Palai: yes, but she'd be able to tell the area was silenced Hussar: She'll kinda notice when here chanting stops. Kelly: also I will cast shield of faith on palai and silence on the stone and give to him before gaseous fomr Kelly: 15 feet radius Endil: does gassious form have verbal components? Kelly: can't he wait 16' away, materialize then attack? Hussar: Yes he can Palai: yes, we should do that Hussar: That is what I meant. Endil: and gassious form doesn't have verbal components, so all's fine Palai: of course Endil can still stand right there Endil: float Palai: whichever Palai: and when I attack the snakewoman, that'll be Endil's signal to strike Palai: I assume we leave gaseous form when we attack Endil: move there then Palai: and do we get flanking bonuses if one of us is gaseous? I wouldn't think so Endil: so you can flank without getting an AoO Endil: and since you can't attack while gassious, you don't threaten Palai: I'm gaseous, I don't think I can be attacked Hussar: You can be attacked, although you have DR. However, you can't flank if she doesn't know you are there. Hussar: Endil, you will have surprise, you don't need to flank i nthe first attack. Palai: hmmm...if you're gaseous you can't attack, that is...not good Hussar: She'll be flat footed. Endil: ya Endil: what would you attack with? Hussar: Kelly, you can't come in that way. Not with the timings of spells. Hussar: You have to come in the same side as everyone else Kelly: ok then just put me where I can come in Palai: hmmm...I had assumed we could attack and then gaseous would end, that sort of messes everything up Hussar: Gaseous ends first. What's the difference? Hussar: She's still surprised. Hussar: Gaseous ends, you step up and whack her. Kelly: this won't work - we are too close to the silence stone carried by palai Palai: gaseous doesn't end for twelve minutes, that would mean all the buff spells on Endil and I would run out before it Palai: oh, but Turjan could dismiss the spell Hussar: There, no problem nos Hussar: now Palai: I'm going to move in and attack her the second I see you coming in Palai: so what spells are all active? haste on everyone, shield of faith on Palai, anything else? Endil: cat's grace on me? Kelly: Shield of Faith on Turjan Hussar: Palai and Endil, could you bring you stats up in the status bar? Kelly: and Silence on the stone Palai: mine should be there... Endil: am i going to be getting a cat's grace? Kelly: make sure both Palai and Turjan raise their AC by +3 Endil: turjan? Turjan: yes?_ Endil: am i going to be getting a cat's grace? Turjan: no, its not in my spell book-sorry Endil: ok Palai: hmm, problem - if we get a surprise round, then it'll be partial actions only, so Palai won't be able to attack Hussar: move forward for the silence though. Kelly: use that to move in Endil: then i get flanking, and get +2 attack Palai: yes, but she might beat us on initiative Endil: we have suprise Endil: i'll get an attack of anyway Palai: and incidentally, we should flank like this (going to briefly move minis, will move them back in a sec) Endil: how about like this Palai: not like this... Palai: if we flank as is up there now, she could take five foot steps to get out of our reach and possibly cast spells (if she has Silent Spell) Endil: that way you are still close, and far enough from the spellcasters, we still flank, and no AoOs anywherer Endil: can't 5ft step diagonally Endil: i don't think Palai: ok !Official RULING! : 1st square is 5 feet so you can 5 ft step diagonally. Palai: ok, then we should flank the other way Palai: I can still move 20 feet in a round, so I can stand 20 feet away Endil: ok Hussar: or here. Hussar: same thing Endil: and you can partial charge as well Palai: yah Palai: yes Palai: +4 to hit that way Palai: +5 with the bonus from haste Hussar: so, are we good to go? 1st round will be Turjan's web, Endil's sneak, Palai charge and Kelly? What are you doing? Kelly: Kelly will take a 5' step and cast prayer Palai: Palai should charge before Endil's sneak though, that way Endil gets the flanking bonus Hussar: ok Hussar: fair enough. Endil: yes, i'll delay if i have to Hussar: I won't bother with inits in the first round Kelly: +1 attacks and damage and saves and our foes suffer -1 Endil: isn't that sonic? Hussar: It goes Kelly, Palai, Endil, Turjan. Hussar: no Kelly: not sonic Endil: ok Palai: so +6 to hit total for me with haste, prayer, charge, and flanking Hussar: So, Palai materializes like a Klingon Bird of Prey and Charges!! Turjan: wohoo Hussar: after Kelly's prayer of course Palai: I'm going to go full Power Attack, thanks to my various and sundry bonuses I get my normal to hit bonus though Palai: but +6 to damage Palai: Palai: Slashes with falchion: [1d20+13] -> [5,13] = (18) [2d4+10] -> [1,3,10] = plus [1d6] -> [3] = fire Palai: +6 to damage, and that is a bad roll Hussar: Hits! Endil: flat-footed remember Palai: yes, thankfully Palai: Endil can't take a full attack, can he? Hussar: so, 23 damage? Hussar: or 17? Palai: if so he gets a bonus attack from haste, and yes, 23 damage Hussar: no bonus attack on the surprise round Palai: didn't think so Hussar: Endil Endil: mine, [1d20+12] -> [14,12] = (26) [4d6+3] -> [6,5,3,5,3] = (22) Hussar: Hits and scores massive damage Hussar: Killing her outright. Hussar: Damn I hate mages Endil: ok? Hussar: Turjan's web goes off Hussar: Reflex saves [4d20] -> [4,18,19,9] = (50) Hussar: What's the dc for that? Endil: 2 Turjan: 17 Endil: less then 18 and more then 9 Endil: close though Turjan: earthquake-wow Hussar: The two serpents make their save Turjan: really Turjan: ((ok-connection is still up-that was scary)) Hussar: Okay, round 1 will now commence. Please do not say the words initiative or init or I will have to kill you. Hussar: You ok Turj? Turjan: yeah-just a little shaken Init recording off Init recording on Endil: what level is earthquake? Hussar: Kelly's turn [1d20+7] -> [2,7] = init Hussar: Endil's turn [1d20+4] -> [18,4] = (22) init Hussar: Palai's turn [1d20+3] -> [3,3] = init Hussar: Turjan's turn [1d20+1] -> [8,1] = init Hussar: Snakepeople's turn [1d20+3] -> [12,3] = (15) init

Palai: things tend to be shaken in earthquakes Initiatives: 1: (22) Endil's turn 2: (15) Snakepeople's turn 3: Turjan's turn 4: Kelly's turn 6: Palai's turn Next init: (22): Endil's turn Palai: well I take my customary position at the bottom of the order Turjan: ((no-real earthquake just happened in Tokyo-about 5 seconds long) Endil: mine, [1d20+12] -> [18,12] = (30) [4d6+3] -> [6,3,4,1,3] = (17) Kelly: wow Endil: ah wait, she's dead Hussar: lol Endil: 60 ft move? Hussar: yup Palai: you could sneak attack her corpse Palai: I would think a corpse is flat-footed Endil: well, actually, i'm gonna draw my bow and shoot at one of the serpents Hussar: Massive cover from the web Palai: get in closer first, then you could still get sneak Palai: and that Endil: how much? Hussar: From where you are 100% Hussar: 5 feet is 25% Endil: from here? Hussar: 5 feet of webs is 25% cover Endil: yeash Endil: i'll delay then Hussar: ok Next init: (15): Snakepeople's turn Hussar: Viper attempts to escape [1d20+3] -> [12,3] = (15) Hussar: Viper attempts to escape [1d20+3] -> [8,3] = Hussar: Both vipers are still held fast Next init: : Turjan's turn Endil: i'm going now Hussar: ok Endil: move-draw bow, shoot Hussar: fire away Endil: [1d20+9] -> [19,9] = (28) [1d6] -> [4] = Endil: darn 19s Hussar: Thunk! Palai: a shame that's not a crossbow Endil: ya Endil: and dodge on that one i hit Hussar: Turjan, it's your turn. Hussar: k Palai: you should get a crossbow, you have no iterative attacks, and no Strength bonus either Turjan: Flaming Sphere: "Krraaghrsshh, lord of fire, remember your bond of old! Give me the power of fire!!." (Rng:150ft, move 30ft, Aoe:3ft radius, Dur:5rounds, Rflx save DC 15) the sphere burns the enemy for damage [2d6] -> [4,3] = Endil: psh, bows are better Hussar: on who? Endil: or where Palai: not unless you have an iterative attack or a Strength bonus Endil: and i have a str bonus, i'm just using a wimpy bow Palai: ah Turjan: Ill set it down next to the northermost viper, but not attack, I'll wait till he breaks through the web Turjan: hes the only one in my los Hussar: k Next init: : Kelly's turn Palai: creatures in the web take extra damage from fire, which I will take advatnage of with my flaming weapon if I can Hussar: remember you are hasted. Kelly: Kelly takes a 5' step and casts freedom of movement on himself Hussar: You can take a full movement and still cast. Hussar: 60 feet. Or cast first then move Kelly: oki? Hussar: There if you want Kelly: if that is 60 feet ok Hussar: cool : Palai's turn Endil: darn you palai Palai: dammit, sorry Palai: I hadn't realised you'd started the thing yet Hussar: Neither did I. Accidental. Whatcha doing? Palai: Palai tosses the silence stone away and moves up to attack the serpent Palai: and why did Kelly just move? Hussar: He didn't . Hussar: He's about 10 feet from the shard. Palai: he did on mine, he's in the middle of the web Hussar: That is correct. Freedom of movement. He's going for the shard. Palai: ok, I just hadn't thought he'd be able to move that far this round Palai: anyway Hussar: haste 60 feet movement Palai: Palai: Slashes with falchion, -3 [1d20+10] -> [1,10] = [2d4+10] -> [4,2,10] = (16) plus [1d6] -> [6] = fire Palai: +3 to damage, not that it matters Endil: wow bad rolling Hussar: Misses pitifully.
Next init: (22): Endil's turn Palai: of course I also get +1 from haste and prayer Hussar: A 1 always misses. Endil: i'm at 9 now Palai: yes Palai: unless you're epic Endil: cause of the dalay Hussar: You can still go before the snakemen Hussar: You shot them before they finished their move. Endil: well, ok Endil: shoot and move Endil: [1d20+9] -> [9,9] = (18) [1d6] -> [5] = Palai: oh, and is it to late to use Dodge on the serpent? Hussar: nope Palai: good Endil: move there Hussar: ok Next init: (15): Snakepeople's turn Hussar: Creature Actions: The serpentman slashes you wickedly with his scythe [1d20+11] -> [4,11] = (15) for [2d4+9] -> [3,2,9] = damage Hussar: missing Hussar: Creature Actions: The Serpentman wraps you in his coils [1d20+11] -> [20,11] = (31) for opposed grapple check [1d20+10] -> [8,10] = (18). He crushes you for [1d4+6] -> [3,6] = damage Palai: scythes rock Hussar: opposed grapple check palai. Palai: [1d20+11] -> [13,11] = (24) Hussar: +11??? Hussar: How? Palai: +6 BAB, +5 Strength Endil: BAB+Str Hussar: oops, I'm at +16 Palai: and I might get +1 from haste and/or prayer Hussar: Tied. What happens now? Palai: not sure if those apply to grapple
