What is a foe hunter anyway? Don't know that class. I hope some of the others make their wishes known here soon. It would be nice. Although, I suppose, in a pinch I could always run the first little bit of Temple of Evil. It has a nice dragon in it and a nice town to start in. I'd rather not, seeing as how it kinda defeats the purpose.

Foe hunter is a prestige class from Masters of the Wild, they get special abilities in hunting a particular type of creature (dragons for me, naturally). I'll probably start as a ranger 2/fighter 2 and go from there, specialising in archery and killing dragons.

Warmage all set up. Just need to give him a name. He's pretty tall too, rolled max for height... Anyway, Warmage is from the minis handbook, a decent purchase, better if you are planning on playing D&D minis. If somone still wants to play an arcane spellcaster, by all means do so, warmages are really only good at blowing things up or making it easier to blow things up.

Sorry "Pulling Punchs" was the wrong set of words. I forgot you are an english teacher and literalist. I meant that the dragons selected were not near as bad as what is out there to pick from. Yes and thank the gods that the "super-intelligent" dragons simply did not come up on deck and attack using all their multiple attacks. And even more fortunate, another dragon was killed by summoned sea creatures.
Sorry for not knowing the stats of sea cats, but it was not a spell I had prepared. So I had no idea it would even come into play nor did I have an idea that we were going to do battle at sea where even the horn of the tritons would be a possibility. I will look up the stats of sharks and sea sheep (LOL) for future reference.
I agree about the suggestion of 5th level or so PCs for the dragon hunter game. Sounds like a good and fun idea. Please remember that I do not have much DM experience besides running one purchased module in 1981 when our DM was ill. So about the best I am good for is maybe a small side adventure if I have alot of notice and time to put something together.
Plus someone would have to teach me more about using OpenRPG in the DM role since I usually need help to change my name or add a mini as a player (LOL). Sorry computers just were not a household item when I was in school and in fact neither were calculaters. And yes I still have my first slide rule. LOL.

I was sorta prepared for my summoning. I had a whole table I made up of the creatures I might summon, just when the time came I read it wrong. I wasn't completely sure what the routine was about moving minis was either, this being my first real battle. I'm assuming from now on when I want something moved (that I control) that I just move it. I might be up to DMing at some point, but not now. I still don't have a firm grasp on 3.5e rules as a player, I'd probably screw everything up if I tried to DM with the knowledge I have now. Whatever level we start as would be fine with me. I'd actually prefer we started at 1st because I rarely do that (games on this board always seem to start in the higher levels) and I don't really have much invested in my character yet and wouldn't mind losing five levels. But I'll go along with wherever we start. Certainly if we're going after dragons immediately then we should start somewhere higher than 1st. Hmm, I usually like clerics. Let me read up a bit on the Scarred Lands dieties and I'll get back to you.

Heh, now that people are getting excited about this.
I've just gotten bitten by a major creative urge. So, I thinks I'll put the dragon thing on hold for a bit. I've got some really cool ideas flowing now that I can have ready in time. Plus the wifie is going to stay with her folks for a week next week (no, no problems, just a family gathering) so I've got lots of time on my hands. Thanks for the ideas guys, and keep them warm. It might come up sometime.
As far as getting straight up onto the ship, well, that was tricky cos there was 11 medium creatures taking up the bow of the ship. While I could bull rush, it would be tricky with so many. Now, on the stern end of the ship, there's only one prone mage... Heh, the thought did occur.
As I said, that was my screw up. The sea cats shouldn't have hurt the one dragon. Well, it was only one, so not too big a deal. You guys still have a MAJOR fight ahead of you. The big guy has hardly been scratched and there's still a pretty fresh dragon on your stern. Should be interesting. Heh.
Y'know, if we're going to do a co-operative thing, we should put some limitations on books. I mean, it's pretty difficult to DM when you have no idea what the other guy can do. Or, can I pull out my Relics and Rituals I and II and make a character? That could be interesting. Heh. I would suggest that we limit things to core 3.5 just to be fair to everyone. No more of the silly stuff.

something i do when DMing a game, is ask if the player is going to use any supplements (anything other then PHB, DMG, or MM), and if so, what are they using from it. If i don't have it, like most newer books, I'll get them to tell me what it does, and I'll either give the goahead or say "No, don't like that." or "don't want that in this game."
But if we do go with just the main books... would be kinda boring, since there's about 15 other types of true dragons that i know of (Not counting wrack dragons or Force or Prismatics, which are epic anyway). And there's only so many templates and classes in the core rules.

See, I don't understand that. Maybe it's because I always DM and rarely play. PHB characters are boring? Why? There's absolutely nothing wrong with playing characters that are limited to the core rules. I absolutely loathe all the crap that's being pumped out daily. I really, really do. So much of it is pure munchkin. I've been doing this campaign for about a year and a half now. Excepting the three Scarred Lands monster manuals and now the Broadsides books (both of which are DM's books and not player books anyways), I haven't cracked another d20 product. Nothing. All this crap with BOVD, BOED, Complete this and that, not to mention other products just really flies up my nose. I have approved a few of you for some of it, but I gotta say, it was with GREAT reluctance. There is absolutely no reason you can't play an interesting character straight from the PHB. Anybody who says differently isn't trying hard enough. I'm sorry, but really, 15 TYPES of dragons? I'm assuming that you mean type as in metallic or chromatic etc, not just 15 kinds of dragons. That's insane. And totally unneeded. Why bother? How many times have you used a dragon in your campaigns? In say, the past year. These four Wrack dragons are the first dragons I've thrown at a party in over four years. Who needs all these different dragon types? 99% of them are pretty much EXACTLY the same as the core rules just with different abilities. The Wracks were a little different in that they don't grow, don't have age categories and are treated more as constructs than as dragons. Also, they got used because, well, this is a SL campaign. There aren't any (or at least VERY few) true dragons on Scarn anymore. I know I'm going to get slammed as a purist, but it really annoys me that people seem to think the only way they can have an original character is by taking something that no one has ever heard of. Thus endeth the rant.

Well, I've made and had characters that whre pretty origonal using only the core rules, but I find that some other classes alow for more flexability. Also, I like to experement with class combos and such. As it is, I have found some things about the Osteomancer that I wouldn't have just by looking at the stats, like that the Skeletal Shift isn't anywhere near as useful as it sounds.
And for the types of dragons, I ment actual dragons. Not Metalics, Chromatics etc. Some are brown dragons (which have very small and usless wings and live in deserts), fang dragons, which don't have a breath weapon, song dragons that can shapeshift into humanoids and do so frequently. Though there are the Gem dragons, they use psionics and are named after gems, ie: Amythest, Crystal, Topaz etc. Maybe 15 was an overstatment, but there's quite a bit of varaity of true dragons. (My definition of true dragons are ones that have age catagories and all the other abilities of a dragon. ie: Sunwyrms, while dragons arn't true dragons since they don't have age catagories. That's what makes dragons so nice to use.)
And for dragons I've used in a camp, I once had the party walk into a city of dragons. That should be enough. One guy melted along with the top half of an inn when a deep dragon got out of control and breath weaponed the inn. (Deeps have a corrosive gas weapon and have two alternate forms.)
And in my current camp, which is war based, there's going to be dragons. I can't say much more for ruining the story and plot for some of my players, two of which are in this game as well.
I always like to make use of dragons, either as NPCs that help or hinder the PCs in a diplomatic manner, to enemies to allies to PCs themselves. (Once had a plan with a friend in a Dragonlance game that was in the lower epics where I played a young green and he played a dragonrider.) But sadly, dragons are so powerful that any dragon PCs either have to be babies (which can throw wrenches into a background), or be high level. Both of which, the DM has to approve, which not many do.
I personally don't make extencive use of supplements, (excepting FR stuff since I really like the setting) but rather take bits that I think will contribute to make a memorable character or NPC. Some don't turn out quite as I had expected, which is why i have about 20 PCs sitting in my characters folder on my computer. I like to experement with diferent stuff. (As a note, one of my more memorable characters was a human fighter that used a halberd, the only thing that i was going to get him that came from a supplement was the Warrior of Darkness PrC from the BoVD, which is nice and customizable. But I had to keep experementing, and he now collects cyber-dust with the rest of the characters.)

Sorry Cos, that wasn't meant as a shot at you particularly. It's just that there's been a number of things come up lately from a wide source of books that really don't fit with SL. Take Azz for example. He's done a fantastic job bringing Evelyn to life (who actually began life as a sorcerer but never mind ) . Then he tells me he wants to use a PrC out of BOED based around an Elven god. Well, that tells me something. It tells me that he hasn't bothered to read the bits and pieces I've put up here about SL elves, cos, if he had, then he would know that the elven god is dead. That kinda annoys me cos I spend a fair bit of time posting information about the scarred lands which, isn't even being read.
Also, despite the fact that the campaign has been going for over a year, not once has anyone asked me about a Scarred Lands PrC. Not once. I've had people ask me about using Forgotten Realms stuff, I've had people ask about using this or that, heck, Cos, you even asked me about playing a half-Celestial despite the fact that I flat out said in the beginning that this was a low magic, grim and gritty campaign. To tell the truth, that annoys me somewhat. I like the Osteomancer cos it's creepy enough that it fits with the mood of the campaign. But, other than the information that I post, I've never seen anyone else make any sort of effort to familiarize themselves with the Scarred Lands. Heck, Kelly played a priest of Corean for almost a year before he asked me what Corean's core tenets and dogma were. I had kinda hoped that you guys would take a bit of interest in the setting over and beyond what I post.
Anyway, enough rambling. The campaign is going very well and I've got some REAL fun up my sleeve. That's assuming that you survive this one of course. Heh. BTW, I took a look and ALL true dragons, every one of them, has a DR of x/magic. All of them. Nothing else, just magic. It's not my fault you guys didn't bother arming your troops with some magic weapons.

Well, I was still quite new to the setting when I asked about the Half-Celestial. And I've seen a few SL PrCs, only one I can remember with any clerity, the ... name that I can't remember, I just remeber that he has shadow related spells and stuff. It's been a while. And I'm still getting a feel for this setting. I kinda don't like the stuff they did to the elves and some other stuff. Anyway, my new computer and OpenRPG arn't getting along well, I might miss the next game. Sorry.

I hope it wasn't something I said. heh. Don't take it too seriously. I just wanted to rant once in a while.
Now, as far as elves, to me, I think it's great. I absolutely detest elves. I've never seen a well played elf. All I've ever seen are humans with infravision. I've never understood why elves were included in player races. Why would a being that lives for centuries adventure with humans? Unless there was some sort of overriding quest, I really can't see why elves would bother. In my homebrew campaigns, I took a page from Talislanta and removed elves altogether.
The PrC you're thinking of is a Penumbral Lord, and it's meant for an NPC. Very, very evil.
I hope your compy sorts itself out for tomorrow. That would suck if I killed you while you weren't there. Er, I mean, you'll miss interesting things if you're not there. Heh.
Oh, BTW, something just occured to me. You guys, if you survive, are going to come into a large amount of money. I've realized that I've been very stingy with the cash, so it's time to get you guys back to where you should be . Give some thought as to how you might want to spend a fairly large chunk of change.
And one more thing, Kelly, aren't you glad I told you to keep the horn? Killed yourself a dragon with that thing. I'd say it was worth it.

Pnumbral Lord, that was it. And I am playing an imp in another game. Evil doesn't bother me so much. For elves, I think it's hard for most gamers to play an elf, since, like you said, they would need a good reason to be adventuring with humans and dwarves (who live slightly less longer then elves and are even more xenophobic) and others. Also, from a role play perspective, it's hard to play an elf because the majority are either so arrogant that they drown when it rains, or are completly devoted to nature that would put a non-elf druid to shame. Anyway, Endil was really bad, I was still adjusting to the stuff. But I did play an elf sorta good once. He was a LE conjurer, and, like most conjurers, he had a commanding aura, never got to play him for any length of time though. And no, Open still refuses to work.

Yes I am glad that I have a horn Evelyn can blow. LOL
Azz thinks he should be back in action sometime in July. His college tuition ate up most of his spare money right now.
